We waited 3+ hours for a ride. Waste of time, traffic was too bad in the area and we did a 5 minute loop on the side streets rolling along at a snail pace. Not at all their fault, but definitely not worth waiting around for 3 hours for (with two young kids and two dogs in our car waiting).

But overall great event. Super impressed with the vehicles and the colours look so much better in person than on a screen. Staff all seem really happy to be with the company
We responded to the RSVP email saying we would be there in the PM. so when there at 3PM and I ask where to go to organize a ride along. The lady at reception explains that all spots are booked out for the day.... WTF, nowhere were we warned that ride spots were limited. That really pissed me off. But after seeing your comment about how the ride along was a waste, maybe we didn't miss anything in the end.

But it was nice to walk around and see the vehicles in person for the first time. Some thoughts:
- Staff were super helpful and knowledgeable.
- The R1T is bigger than expected. I drive a Honda Ridgeline and in my mind the truck was the same size. But it was def bigger in person.
- The materials were as nice as I had hoped. We have had Audi's and BMW's so I was hoping it would be at that level. No issues there.
- Rear seats were really comfortable
- I asked to see the full range of suspension movement in person. One of their super helpful staff members got me outside and asked the drivers to change the suspension height while between rides. He showed me the demo on 2 vehicles. Uh, it was super super slow to raise the vehicles. Maybe 1inch a minute kind of slow. Hopefully that was just because vehicles were not moving or something??
- It was nice seeing the colours in person. My wife does not like the silver colour we ordered, so it was nice to find out this weekend vs when vehicle is delivered.

I think the early rides were likely better, but through the afternoon they were nothing interesting, at least from my experience.

That’s a great idea about going outside to see the level changes. I hadn’t thought about that and it was one thing I left wishing I had seen. I wonder if the air compressor is slow if it’s being used constantly, where as with only occasional use the tank is full and changes are much faster? If an owner is reading this, care to comment?

The staff did mention it was because they had been using it a lot with all the rides. I used to own a Land Rover LR4 and its suspension was never that slow.
Not a deal breaker, just surprising

A year ago I spent a couple hours crawling all over various R1Ts before having a demo drive. Driving or riding in one will not make the wait for delivery day any easier. It’s very, very good.

Yea, I realized that. I was going to go back this am at 9am. Then realized, "what is the point in having a ride along?". No way I am cancelling my order. It also means I will have some excitement the day of delivery.

Presumably they’ll start doing demo drives once their service centre is open.

FWIW it doesn’t drive like a truck in the slightest, other than sizewise. It feels like a really big car. Suspension is great.

Nothing really to add. We were glad to see the vehicles in person. I thought the truck was quiet on the test drive. Ride was comfortable. Sunday was the better day for sure, with just an hour wait for a drive.
I liked the "red" better in person, though the blue, forest green and granite were the preferred colours. My wife got the chance to emphasize that I am driving "her EV" until they get the Rivian maxpack produced ;-) (Ie; Hurry up and make it! 2024 is too long.) Did ask some questions that were a bit probing and detailed on QC items (which most forum members are aware) I didn't expect a specific answer although I thought that the staff there were all great.

One person closing the tailgate got a heckuva clunking sound. I didn't when I tried it.

As noted with the postponed maxpack delivery my expectations are still tempered.

Will be back posting in a couple years ;-)

Rivian R1S
Neat event overall. Surprised by test ride alongs around the block which was great (was in first thing Saturday)

Ended up riding along with one of the Rebelle Rally drivers and she was super ecstatic of the possibilities. Acknowledged range anxiety being a thing for the R1S but considering the extent they were pushing it feels like she'd be confident on a weekend getaway. The guide that rode along mentioned Rivian network will be along obvious routes in Canada (towards Banff/Jasper) and plans to expand way further out towards many more of the National Parks.

Meeting with RJ was humbling! Worked up some nerdy courage to briefly chat with him which was a lot chiller than I would have thought. Thanked him for a surprise visit and for not forgetting about us up here. Got candid how he's been disappointed in having the Canadian fans unhappy about feeling like theyre last to everything going on but greatly appreciated the patience.

Random tidbits:
-said multiple times already but the fit and finish inside is just astonishing
-couple reps tempering expectations that max pack will not be coming to R1S
-first R1T and first R1S Canadian deliveries happened on Friday already, with a handful more happening in December. Spoke with one of the service centre leads overseeing Canada and felt strongly about the accuracy of current BC reservation timings, especially in Vancouver

Overall nothing ground breaking new news wise but happy that this event happened in the end as promised! Looking forward to seeing many more around.

Some additional photos, chatted up one of the HQ guys that was opening up the R1T parked outside, even showed me the lowest ride height setting to highest, surprisingly doesn’t take that long, compressors barely noticeable in terms of sound.

Went by Sunday around 3:45PM. I'm even more excited about this purchase! The quality was much better than I expected (especially for a brand new company). I took a chance to see if I could get a ride around 4:30 and lucked out as they were wrapping up they were able to squeeze in one last ride as they were closing up (no wait time).

Staff was overall very friendly and now I'm torn between Forest Green and El Cap Grey (I've never been much of a fan of green on cars but it looks great on the R1S).

October-Dec can't come fast enough (assuming I decide to stick to the grey and my delivery dates don't change).
