This is dickless piece of shit decided to purposely run his bike handle into my new-to-me R1T yesterday in Pacific Beach, San Diego. It’s deeply scratched go about 3 inches an a little dented. I would appreciate any advice on repairs etc.

Well, it certainly doesn’t look like he’s out on that bike very often, but you should still put him on Nextdoor and let the Karens have at him. Maybe someone will recognize him from a local all you can eat buffet or smoke shop.

That sucks. I had a nearly identical dent/scratch on my RAM that I traded for my R1T. PDR made it go away.

Sorry that happened. For my recent vandalism experience, Rivian told me to go to one of their certified body shops. I had a similar sized one-panel gash. My quote was $2500. Your's could be higher since my scratch didn't require much more than buffing then repainting, whereas you unfortunately have that dent. Let us know what you find out.

I’d like to argue that he just lost control. But I doubt it. That’s annoying AF.

I’d say don’t get into a ND etc… argument. Not like you’re going to get any $$$ from him. Sorry about the issue, but you will be OK. Insurance will help and won’t count against you since it’s comprehensive.

I would file a police report just in case, he seems like a local so you never know and if the Karen's on the internet ever find him the report will be filed.

As for the repair, I am AMAZED at so many of the paintless dent repairs you see here, reddit, and facebook. I think I would find out on other car forums and google who is THE guy in your area and take it there. I'm sure they can make it look great without a hit on your insurance and a lot of lost time without the Rivian.

Agreed on PDR, have had success in the past , but eh paint is scratched all the way through the base coat. ?

I'd doubt you need a "Rivian Certified" body shop for that repair. I'd guess a good PDR to pull the gash back out to normal, and then repaint that one door. Any good body shop should be able to fix it.

On a less extreme maneuver than his predecessor, this guy had the bicycling equivalent of what pilots used to call "controlled flight into terrain."

I can't get inside his brain. If he didn't intend to hit your Rivian, he was certainly careless about his own skills. It's not easy managing a cigarette and a bicycle at the same time -- but he chose to smoke and ride in somewhat challenging terrain. Adults need to take responsibility for their actions.

I don't know how to excuse the behavior of knowing he left damage, and not leaving his information. I'm sorry this happened to you, @bhendron!
