So, new to RIVIAN. Just took delivery of R1S - Gen2 Monday. Didn’t update last night. All worked well, drove this morning. Parked at Home, good cell service, and decent WiFi connection. Why would my RIVIAN go offline?

Sounds like no internet connection. I have a wireless router in my garage setup as a hot spot. It had a hiccup a few months ago where the truck was connected to the hotspot but the hotspot was not connected to the internet. In that scenario the ATT connection was ignored because of the WiFi connection. Rebooting the hotspot cleared it for me.

New update sucks. Mine does that too and never did before.

Even without WiFi (which generally happens as soon as you leave your property) the vehicle will remain online via LTE service.

Are you in an area that had recent hurricane damage to infrastructure? It's possible to have LTE signal, but no connectivity from the cell tower site to the internet.

Others said it naturally goes to sleep. I hope RIVIAN may make that an option to not sleep. I like the idea of remotely turning the AC on or watching the new live gear guard camera.

I will extend my WiFi to see if that fixes, but in metropolitan area with good cell service. (New Orleans) seems like they could have cell override when WiFi is weak or lost WiFi signal.

Going to sleep does not take it offline, you can wake it from the app.

I've had connectivity issues as well. I even went so far as to install a new access point outside to give the truck a better signal. It still drops off periodically and cannot be awoken with the app. I will get an error after a minute or two of waiting for the truck to unlock or start the climate. It also fails to unlock with my phone so I think it must move from "sleep" to "coma" or something.

Since the truck has line of sight to the AP, I had it on a 5GHz network, but I just switched it to a dedicated 2.4GHz network to see if it's more reliable.

I have a gen2 R1S and have the exact issue starting on day 1. It has been 2+ weeks since I reported it to Rivian service and their remote diagnostics team is still looking at it... This is definitely not normal, it should be sleeping when not driven, not offline.

Any update on this? I noticed my Gen 2 goes offline all the time while on WiFi as well. I have terrible cell service in my garage but a Wifi hotspot on the wall right next to the vehicle. When sleeping, it also refuses to wake up in the app.

Fun fact: My UniFi router tries to guess what is connected via Wifi. It's guess for the Rivian is a Lollipop Baby Monitor made by Murata Manufacturing Co.

Mine seems to be getting worse. PaaK (which actually has nothing to do with wifi) is now failing if the truck has been sitting for more than a day. When I get in, Alexa doesn't work, music doesn't work, and I can't search for new destinations on the map. The truck indicates that it has a wifi signal, and I can confirm that on my Unifi setup.

Similar issue on newly delivered Gen2 R1S. I had a Gen1 on the same WiFi network in the same garage location and never had problems with it being offline. Frustrating!
