There are like 3 or 4 threads about it so I'd say yes...Has anyone had the wet floor board issue twice?
Gen 1. I’m not sure if I’ve heard of any Gen 2s with this issue, have you?@onesoil is your 2024 a gen2?
I believe they have a totally different HVAC system, what with Gen 2s having a heat pump, so I would hope they designed it better than the Gen 1 system (which has had various issues with cooling from the beginning, though this drain issue seems to be increasingly prevalent this summer for whatever reason).@onesoil i am not sure. I keep trying to justify an upgrade maybe this is it
I’m guessing it takes time for the clog to build up. Could be critical mass now. It’s so strange to me how this wasn’t a problem in the first couple years, but now seems like a very widespread issue. My father’s Launch R1T bricked due to condensate backing into the cabin, my 2022 R1T is in the shop now getting the whole HVAC/carpet replacement as we speak (and faulty AXM modules on both, which I’m suspecting is actually related, though they haven’t confirmed this yet).
We also have a 2024 truck with wet mats that will be taking the 3+ hour trip to Chelsea or Canton ASAP (October 28th unless they bump us up).
True, but how do we explain people who’ve had the work done two or more times with recurring problems in short periods of time? It’s just strange that the system could be fine for a couple years and then all of a sudden plug, then plug again shortly after the work was done.I’m guessing it takes time for the clog to build up. To be fair, this happens with a lot of cars. Maybe not as much as with the R1s, but I’ve have a couple of cars where they had to blow out the drain. Didn’t happen more than once per car though.
It’s probably a physical design issue. If we are trying to keep it simple.True, but how do we explain people who’ve had the work done two or more times with recurring problems in short periods of time? There are several posts on the thread I started of at least one repair with the issue coming back shortly after: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...eck-your-carpets-for-signs-of-moisture.48540/
I almost wonder if there’s some software issue that’s causing something about the hardware to malfunction? I really have no basis for this and am fully speculating, but I do know that HVAC handling has changed a fair amount over the years (for better and sometimes worse) with various firmware releases. Could there be some way the HVAC is being controlled that leads to more frequent drain clogging? What substance actually causes the clog? I know with sunroof drains (or other drains throughout a car body), it’s usually foreign debris (pine needles, leaves, etc.). But what plugs up an HVAC drain?
Just some ruminations and questions. I’ll ask some more detailed questions when I go to pick my truck up (which has been gone almost 20 days… and is requiring a windshield replacement due to them cracking it while doing this job, which will mean I have to get it tinted againthe IR rejecting 70% tint, ironically, helps with heat buildup significantly).
