whats up with the thumbs down...

i live in west central florida about 100 miles north of tampa. now that rivians are more common, and people realize the truck is electric, i frequently get the 'thumbs down' from other drivers during my travels. i realize this is florida and the heat can toast feeble minded brains but it still bothers me. why do people have a problem with a vehicle that's pro environment?
has anyone else experienced this behavior?
i usually respond with a flicked bird because it's not like they can chase me down.
i'm driving a rivian after all. i love my corvette eating little beastie. just wish it did the 124mph i was told it would do when i put my deposit down in 2020

I mean, not to be a jerk, but are you sure they are giving the truck the thumbs down and not your driving? I thumbs-down people who do things like block the left lane rather than the more aggressive bird.

only time I got a thumbs down was on a trail when a group of 4 Runners passed. Though they were smiling too, so maybe just jealous....

no doubt i do enjoy the acceleration of my truck and sometimes a bit excessively but the recent thumbs down was while i was at a stop sign. even the service writer at the garage i use for my i.c.e. vehicle sez she'll ride a mule to work before she'd drive electric. i honestly think these guys don't like progress or maybe it is jealousy.

It is unfortunate that EV vrs ICE has become a political item. I like cool cars and stay out of politics Rivian is a cool car don't care what powers it. It feels like the opposite of the opposition that Hummer was getting back in the day.

I live in Miami it’s way worse down here when it comes to rude drivers. Like another poster mentioned just ignore them who cares. I always love it when they make it their mission to swerve in and out of traffic just to get in front of me and get stuck at a light ahead. You can’t fix stupid. Whatever makes them feel better about themselves I guess.

We live in the western Florida Panhandle even deeper into the bowels of a solid red geography. We have had our R1T for a year and a half now and have yet get get a thumbs down from anyone. We have given a lot of interviews at the car wash and at the Walmart parking lot. All of our encounters have been favorable. No one has given us any grief because Opal (our R1T) is electric. Most peopled are thrilled to see Opal's frunk without an engine in it. We get many questions about her performance and the charging ritual.

I've not encountered a thumbs down, but in eastern CO and in WY I've had losers try to coal roll me. Luckily the Rivian is fast enough to just go around them while they are setting up their stupid stunt. I'm long gone by the time black smoke is coming out of their truck.

The instantaneous throttle response is especially annoying to diesel truck drivers who think their jacked up Bubba truck is the only way a truck should look and be fueled. I just wave at them in the rear view and keep driving.

Oh yeah. You can hear their turbo trying to spool up again as you drive by and they realize what you are doing
