Almost forgot. But I have two child seats in the back and this will be dead space for several years.

I would go with the frunk but I would hesitate to drill for the mount. You know how it is trying to mount anything on hollow plastic. I would use 3M tape or just pack other stuff around it.
Okay, I've selected the space and the fastener. The suggestions from the second post, as shown above, served for both answers. I used a strip of industrial-grade 2” Velcro double-sided sticky tape and the passenger side of the frunk for the install spot.

I’ve been thinking about the same thing … any concerns about the temperature in the frunk. I believe it gets quite warm in there (well above the rest of the truck).

Sorry, the discount for the fire extinguishers has been changed by the manufacturer to 10%, but still a discount.

Firstly, yes, this extinguisher (HAL GUARD HG100) is not for the Rivian lithium battery. It is for a sudden fire in the vehicle, small fires at a camping site, or some help along the road.

Secondly, I am unsure of the best or most convenient places for placement and installation. Maybe in the front storage place or the back of the second-row seats. Do you have any suggestions?

For reference, I've included some photos of the fire extinguisher and potential installation spots. Your insights would be greatly appreciated.

Can one drill into this area to secure the mount?

Install on the back side of either second-row seat??

I, too, would like to hard mount the fire extinguisher. I even asked my SC where one might safely drill to place the holder for the extinguisher. Perhaps understandably, they were not willing to suggest a mounting location. I instead placed the unmounted extinguisher in the rear storage area beneath the rear cargo space. I commandeered placed it unmounted in the center of the storage space beneath the rear cargo area where otherwise some of the tire leak foam, etc. is otherwise. It fits diagonally across that space snuggly enough that it shouldn't move around.

Not meaning an criticism of Rivian, I would think that for an adventure vehicle intended for the outback Rivian could identify some place in the car for the readily accessibility of the extinguisher.

I selected a First Alert extinguisher rate for A-B-and C fires, understanding that this extinguisher is not intended to handle a full blown battery fire.

These Element extinguishers (see link above) are another option that is easier to stow in a vehicle. In my R1T, I keep an Element stick under the rear seat.... and an extinguisher on the head wall of the truck bed.

Glad to see the OP went with putting the extinguisher in the frunk. If you can't hard metal mount the extinguisher in the cabin, put it outside the cabin (lifetime of motorsports car prep). You do not want this coming loose in the cabin during a collision. An Element in the door pocket is a great way to be safe and have easy access.

Frunk can get hot because of the inverters. I’m not sure about keeping anything that is pressurized in there (probably fine?). For those who don't have a extinguisher yet, there is this alternative: https://elementfire.com/
