Until my charger arrives and gets installed, I’d like to avoid trying to trickle charge off 120V. I do have a dryer outlet located on the opposite side of the house from my driveway, so I think as a stop-gap I can run a 40ft extension cable from that outlet to the driveway for charging. Is there a recommended gauge of extension cord I should be going with? Eyeballing photos of the portable charger it seems like that cable is around 10AWG, so I imagine a 10AWG 220V extension cord should do the trick. I wanted to see if there were any more informed opinions here that may be better than me eyeballing photos.

What kind of adapter will you use to plug the dryer extension cord into the Rivian?

Which extension cord do you all recommend for situations where you might need to use a home 240-volt plug and need to run the cable out to the garage etc?

I would strongly recommend 8ga as that covers 40 amps plus never base things off ground wire sizes, grounds can be 1 size smaller then the primary. So in this case a 10ga ground would be OK but the primaries need to be 8 ga.

I use the NeoCharge for splitting the use of my 240 outlet between my Tesla and Rivian.

I bought this 40 feet extension cord from Amazon to charge my Rivian from the outlet. It has 3 6 gauge wires and one 8 gauge wire. Works without any problem.

I have a neocharge as well, but I'm getting a blinking red light from the rivian mobile charger. I used an amazon 10-30 to 14-50 adapter. Not sure whats going on. Dryer works fine when plugged in. I ordered another adapter to see if thats the issue.

Does anyone have a link to the dryer adapter they purchased?

I was actually surprised by 120v in the meantime. Usually nets around 1.5m an hour which is enough most of the time.

Not sure what is the issue. I would suggest that you email NeoCharge support. They are good in their response. In case it is a problem with their splitter, they might send you another one. According to them, the plug on the left takes priority over the right plug in the splitter. [email protected]
