Super off topic, but I wasn't sure where I can find this info since this build isn't available on Rivian.com anymore. What is the range difference on an R1T quad motor with large battery with the AT tires vs the regular tires/rims.

I believe they are only offered with standard battery packs, even on custom builds (which can’t have the AT package). These 20s come with 275/60R20 (33

Large and Max packs get the original 20” wheels with 275/65R20 Pirelli AT tires, now only possible to spec with the AT package (RUS, tow hooks, and spare tire included). In the past the 20” wheels could be spec’s with or without RUS and/or spare tire. I wish they had done it this way from the start, otherwise I wouldn’t have ended up with a truck without underbody shield (I had limited options when picking a demo R1T before leasing was made available in VT).

Ah, that's the one. It's like a slight variation to the prior discontinued 20" AT wheels. I actually liked the older 20" AT :"slotted" wheel brights but Rivian (for Gen 1) decided to DC those in favor of only offering the wider spoke non slotted AT's.

I find it interesting Rivian chose such an aggressive 20" "all season" tire. You would think a more road oriented tread would give longer range.

I'm fuzzy, but I thought R1T Quad Large with AT tires ~280 miles vs Quad Large with 21s ~320 miles? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Watchiing Rivian Romaer pretty closely I will say that if a build appears with PDM, ocean coast, premium audio, and NO AT package they seem to dissapear VERY quickly. The AT package ones seem to hang around for much longer. So I'd say demand is definitely there for the 22" variations

Thats because the Goodyear is a 33 inch tire, 275/60/20. The 34 inch tire is 275/65/20 setup was what they’ve always done.
Good point. I was wondering how much the extra weight and maybe drag of the reinforced under carriage body armor might be contributing to less range? But maybe it is almost entirely tire related.

It’s not a AS tire. It’s a AT tire. Goodyear Wrangler AT tire. Not sure why Rivian advertises it as a AS setup.
Hi all, I’m one of the tire designers at Goodyear who worked with the Rivian design team to develop the new Wrangler Territory AT for the R1 Gen 2. I was a bit surprised that Rivian described it as an AS option, but in reality, it performs excellently as an All-Season tire and also excels in All-Terrain environments. I’ve been driving my Gen 1 R1T with the new Goodyear tires, and I’m very pleased with the efficiency, ride, handling, noise, and off-road capability. I think the tire’s design looks great and really complements Rivian’s brand and what they stand for. There is more info on the Goodyear tire in this thread…

Efficiency was the top priority for the Goodyear tire design. I am very happy with the range I’m getting on this “AS/AT” tire.

Agree, instead of losing $35K per Gen 1 vehicle, they only lose $34k.
Source?

RJ has said in interviews that Gen2 is cash-positive.

Didn't they say they are targeting getting cash positive (per vehicle produced) by the end of this year? Do you have a reference that says they are cash flow positive per vehicle, and data that backs that up? As far as the data that has been provided, there is no evidence they are cash flow positive per vehicle produced - yet. Maybe Q3 results will reveal something concrete.

I said Gen1 and the $35k loss per vehicle is directly from one of their press releases detailing how they brought losses down from $70-$75K per vehicle.

What RJ said about Gen2 PROJECTED profitability is just that, what RJ said in an interview, not an actual fact. Should the Gen2 changes bring them to profitability with each vehicle yes (RJ's on it), but A LOT of actual factors could negate an/all of that including supply chain and freight costs (going up again).

When the Q4 press release comes out (or an earlier one) we'll see how much each vehicle makes or loses and then can compare to what RJ said in an interview..

Range hit yes. The only OEM tires that are 3PMF rated for snow so those who drive in mins are better equipped than the other tires. When Rivian sold 20, 21, & 22 wheels, the 20s had the most available replacement sizes. The All terrain pkg also includes the underbody shield, and a full size spare...so there's actually more than it looks with that package.
Underbody should be separate.
20” AT 5peak wheels are amazing and bigger diameter than 22” wheels.

way better ride and looks more rugged

rides quiet

ATs way better and I’m lucky enough to have them without underbody mass
