Will R2 have the same heat pump as R1 Gen 2?

Pause the purchase for the reviews. Not the YT but actual people that are stuck with it.
Yup. That's the plan. We are looking to replace my wife's aging but very functional Subaru with another EV, similar in size to the Forster. R2 and EX60 fit the size.

And I'm also not going back to Tesla; that ship has sailed for me thanks to Elon.

no = preorder R2
yes = preorder Volvo
Our xc40 electric has a heat pump that sounds like a jet engine, similar to the R1. Just saying Volvo might not be the solution (also kinda relevant - their infotainment system is riddled with bugs they cant fix).

HVAC compressors inherently make a bunch of noise. If the refrigerant loop is designed correctly, the mounting system dampens out the vibration, and sound deadening is adequete you get quite operation. Rivian has tried to minimize the NVH via software limiting the compressor but there's only so much you can do there. I'm hopeful that the Rivian team has learned enough from the R1 to make the necessary design changes on the R2 to fix this.

let us know how it does. Going to be cold here as well but probably not that cold.
G2 Heat pump held up great even in -15F temps. Efficiency took a beating (snow mode & lots of temp hold at 70 while running errands) but good to know I can adventure safely even in these frigid temps.

Good to know. It got pretty cold here as well and I didn’t notice any issues. Besides efficiency taking a hit, I love having EVs in the winter. Keep the cabin warm no matter where it is parked and not having to pump gas when it’s cold and windy is priceless.
