If it is 32kWh for 100 miles that equates to 3.1 miles per kWh. Given a battery size of 88.5 kWh then the range would be 276 miles. This is less than quoted, what am I missing?
I thought the same thing, but I think they’re giving you the highway mileage, which is always less than the city mileage. I don’t know why they do that without a disclaimer.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
That’s honestly incredible, not sure how they did it
It is quite impressive. Lots of rounded corners, side air intakes, spoilers in the front, rear, and on the roof to cut down on drag, wheel covers, etc. Rivian engineers know what they’re doing. I can’t wait to see what the range would be on the 20” wheels with all-season or summer tires. Truthfully most of these R2s will never leave the pavement. That’s why I’m leaning more toward the Standard version. I’m not sure I can afford anything else. Depends on what the lease deals look like in late 2027. 🤞

I'm bummed to give up the LFP battery in my Model 3, but even at 80% the R2 has 30 extra miles of EPA-rated range available.

Man, must be nice you all get to drive so fast on the highway. I got a ticket going 62 on the freeway. Stupid cameras.
In South Carolina you cannot receive a ticket from a camera. They are illegal. Red light, speeding, etc. Only a cop can give you a ticket. Freedom!

As a semi-long time EV owner, terms like MPGe still makes no sense to me. Give me that miles per kw, that makes a lot more sense to me so fascinating how its legit the same for both. They were not joking by any stretch of the word when they said they were benchmarking the Model Y. Incredible.
https://www.kbb.com/car-advice/what-is-mpge/

It is miles per 33.7 kWh. I wasn’t sure either, quick google makes us both understand..I like the metric, I’ve done my own version of this for
Comparing my ice and ev cars….

I think people misjudge the drag coefficient value of the Rivian designs. It really is pretty efficient.

I have not seen numbers for the R2 but looking at the R1S Rivian does a lot of work to eliminate negative pressure areas that kill the efficiency. It is more about creating a smooth flow around the design.

Here is a comparison of the R1S:

Tesla Model X - .24
Rivian R1S - .28
Range Rover - .39
Yep, people assume all boxes are created equal. If it looks like a box it MUST be incredibly bad.

Do we think using conserve mode will have a noticeable impact on range on the highway?
My guess is the all-purpose mode is going to default to being mostly FWD on the freeway like the R1 dual motor, so you won't see much of an increase by forcing conserve.

Out of curiosity, I looked up the cd on my 1st Gen Nissan Leaf. It is 0.28. It's absolutely phenomenal that Rivian is able to get 0.28-0.29 on the R2!

And the GT-R is 0.27. I worked on advertising for both (first-ever LEAF anyway).

For me, efficiency boils down to one metric: how far I can actually drive at 70–75 mph. That’s my real freeway speed. I’ve tried running 70 in a 75 and I can barely tolerate it. Around town, every EV is “efficient enough,” but highway range at real speeds is what matters to me.

Since a few YouTubers do 70mph testing, that is what I will pay attention to.

Not sure it is "absolutely phenomenal." It is middle of the pack.
