At 144 kWh, the iX5 will be as heavy as R1S. Rather go for the Cayenne EV.

Yeah, I believe they're saying around 6500 lbs but apparently BMW has the suspension dialed in well for that weight. But yes, going to be heavy.

Specs are solid, approx. 435 EPA miles and 10-80 in 22 minutes. BMW's typically squeeze out a bit more real world range than what's certified. Now the styling....not so sure 🤣 .

Base iX5 xDrive 60 starts at $81,250.

Its charging tech seems great. I like the looks, some might think its Fugly. But in reality, its 33% more ( $20,000+) than a Launch R2. Hardly a comparable vehicle. If saving 15 minutes at each charge stop really is worth that, that is up to you.

iX5 xdrive60 is 6,393lbs. Cayenne S Electric is 5,695lbs.

I would definitely take the extra 31kwh. When it comes down to it, they are both fatty 2.5+ ton EV's.

It isn't an R2 competitor. Only 4 inches shorter than a R1S. Honestly for people driving R1S that never use the third row, this is a great option.

Same battery pack size as R1S max pack...but much more efficient, better range and over double max charging speed.

Rivian tech is starting to get dated.

Yeah, 10-80 at 22 minutes is fantastic having the same battery size as R1S max pack. For those that don't venture off road, this is a great alternative to R1S.

I overall like it except for the X’ed DRLs. Doesn’t BMW know that when you X the eyes of something, it typically means that it’s dead?

You can turn one of the slashes off on both sides, so they realized some people won’t like the X’s!

I love this as a two row r1S alternative. I like the Vancouver green and the tanzinite blue. The specs are fantastic and the pricing is very compelling IMO. It is $12k below a similar range R1 base model. The 470kw charging is genuinely future proofing in a meaningful way. It will be a road trip dream car.

Good specs but what has BMW done to their styling? This makes an Audi eTron look beautiful.
