To add on, I would prioritize BM then OC preorder holders.

Assuming people with FE are more attached to the interior since it is an additional cost, and an FE switch to BM loses money.

If I were running things I'd have done it in the opposite order if you're conjecture is right. The longer they make us FE's wait, the more likely we are to switch to BM. If they'd pumped out all the FE first, nobody would have switched, thus no money lost.

Except, based on current Rivian operations, you need to assume a delay for switching interiors.

There are very few FE orders out there. Rivian's current goal is to deliver as many vehicles in Q1 as possible.

Thus making the vehicles with the least chosen interior would be counter to that goal. Even if it meant more money in the long run.

Also imagine the PR issue of guides trying to upsell customers on a more expensive interior to get delivery earlier.

Yea, you're not wrong on those points.

Doesn't really matter what I think they should do anyway, since it's not what they're doing.

Personally, I'm a little peeved that they batched interiors like this. I understand why, to a degree, but I also think it shouldn't have been that difficult to have all 3 interiors running on the line at the same time. If nothing else, I feel like Rivian should have been planning to do it that way.

Just wishful thinking. I would be so much less frustrated about everything in this process if I knew that they were just going off order dates (even if they had some adjustment for proximity to SC).

"We’re also excited to introduce you to your Rivian Guide next week. They will support you through the entire process, from finalizing and confirming your configuration to taking delivery of your brand new R1S. You’ll be able to begin setting up intro calls with them starting the week of April 4th."

I would clear my schedule just in case guide gives option to come to factory on 3/31 and pickup for delivery. Congrats and happy R1S will start being delivered.

Nope. 3/2019 R1T LE, White, OC, 20"AT, NH. I've never laid eyes on a Rivian, not a peep from a guide.
