Hard to guess the direction of travel based on the resting places, but with the Subaru crushed the way it is on the driver side might imply they somehow pulled out in front of the Rivian. Let the speculation begin!

Oh man. I may have passed that green one a few weeks back when I was passing through Alpharetta.

Hope everyone was okay as the priority. Secondly, sad to see that poor truck!

Yep I'm not forensicist but I'd say the Rivian was driving towards where the fire truck is parked and the Subaru pulled out of that access road to the apartments into the path of the Rivian.

I feel for anyone with a 2022 Rivian that gets totalled. You're looking at minimum 18 months until it can be replaced and you're likely paying $15k minimum more for the same vehicle. I do wonder how insurance will handle that with "new car replacement."

I feel for anyone that gets hit by a 7200 lb Rivian. The truck will be replaced, lives cannot.

Agreed!
Somehow everybody seem to think that the 800hp+ Rivian is not the one at fault here. We should reserve judgement until we know more.

Always have to wince when seeing that much damage. From the text the Subaru driver clearly was injured just hope not seriously.

As for fault, the Rivian can have some fault assigned but looking at the damage and that road it appears they were clearly traveling with the right of way so I do not see how the majority of fault is not going end up with the Subaru driver.

I’m not a traffic accident specialist myself so I’ll defer to you.

Whoa, that Subaru was seriously wrecked. I hope the occupants are okay. This is one of the reasons I want the R1S for my family - the mass is a key safety feature. I just wish it had more legroom!

Totally agree. It’s like getting hit by a F-250. I remember my guide saying if you take their insurance it puts you at the front of the production line for parts and replacement. Not sure how accurate that is.

This is true. I hate to think it, but Subaru could have had enough space not knowing the Rivian may have been coming at a high rate of speed.

I know Subaru's are well-built - they always score at the top of crash tests. But you can only do so much against mass.
often a larger mass will simply push a smaller mass further.…which is of less consequence if the smaller mass doesn’t balL up like tinfoil ?
