As a reservation holder, I’d happy trade the teething pains to utterly enjoy the rig. 835hp is obviously secondary bonus.

This is a different issue than the vehicle pulling in a direction. The nut on the knuckle ball joint is coming off on some vehicles for this recall.
*Edit: if your vehicle actually has a loose nut here the steering will feel wonky, and you'll likely get a pull to one direction under acceleration and the opposite under deceleration.

But if the nut was backed off a little and there was extra play, would that be a contributor to putting the car out of alignment?

Not unless it was starting to fall apart, there isn't play or adjustment in this particular fastener. The weight of the truck sort of keeps it in place normally.

I got it. Not certain mine wasn’t already done a couple weeks ago when it was in for the creak/tock (and a couple other things). My service record did reference retorquing but perhaps something else related to the half-shaft/hub. But maybe they knew it was coming and did that too.

I would also think there would be some warning signs/symptoms from the loosening before the complete separation. But obviously doesn’t hurt to be cautious if you’re driving a recalled vin.

Will open a ticket in the app and see what they say. I have no doubt it will get taken care of properly (if it hasn’t already).

At the moment thinking about the builtright molle bed panel I got today…but didn’t get to install because was doing brake pads on our other truck (LX/LC100) with my son tonight. Putting it (and hopefully dirtbike chocks) in tomorrow and will report.

Does anyone know the exact location so we can at least inspect it ourselves before we get a chance to have Rivian retorque it?

When Tesla did something similar they actually had people at Superchargers which was kinda funny.

Rivian R1T R1S ⚠️ Rivian Recall: insufficiently torqued front upper control arm & steering knuckle fastener [official torque value = 90 lb-ft / 122 Nm] 1665190320564

If yours looks like it could be loose or the nut is missing, do not drive the truck.

I can't believe somebody thought it would be a good idea to send this late Friday night. It least do it earlier in the week in the morning...
Haha…..you don’t tell NHSTA when they will issue a recall. Rivian wanted to get in front of the recall being formally released by NHSTA, which was smart on their part.

People already get in an uproar about stupid stuff, so I can only imagine what they’d say about this.

Ok, gearing up for about 80 minutes of hippie guitar hold music…
I hope they bought tonight’s shift a lot of good pizza and beer, they’re going to need it.

I wonder how many VINs are affected. All?
I haven't received the email. My truck VIN 12380 +/-17 was assigned 9/30, but it's a lower VIN (by hundreds) than others assigned a week before mine.

You’re probably safe. By the time of your VIN, I think that we’ve established “that single employee” was relocated from torque wrench duty to biting off the frunk 12V sockets with his teeth.
So maybe you might wanna check for frayed wires behind your frunk light, through.

Too bad they didn't tell us what the proper torque is. Some of could have at least checked on them ourselves till they come and officially check it.

It will be nice when this data becomes available for all major fasteners.

Anyone actually talk to service and figure out the plan? The emails don’t clearly identify what if anything we are supposed to do.

Thanks for this. >>> Immediately goes to put R1T in highest suspension for home inspection!
