Why aren't we asking what the vin numbers are of the trucks with the cracked glass? We have the power to figure out is this a batch problem or not.
Keep in mind VINs aren't entirely sequential.

Hopefully that is something Rivian is doing as this is a safety related issue.

As @CommodoreAmiga pointed out the VINs are exactly sequential and I'd add the fact that there's nothing to suggest that the glass roofs would be added sequentially either. I would be surprised if Rivian wasn't looking on the backend at their production data to see if there is any correlation among VINs that have reported cracking of the roof glass to identify batches that may be outside spec.

I'm seriously concerned about this when we get a late fall / early spring wet snow dump. Not unusual to wake up and find 18+ inches on the cars/trucks (not so much with the "drought"). My SQ5 had a full length sunroof and I never thought twice about it cracking under the weight. The video with the girl breaking the sunroof is deeply disconcerting, along with these other shares of same thing. RECALL for sure - at least if Rivian wants to remain reputable. This is a serious safety hazard.

Also, has it been confirmed that the glass is made by Fuyao? That documentary on Netflix was "interesting" to say the least - not in a good way.

I wouldn't worry about snow buildup as that weight is much more evenly distributed vs. Kim's full weight concentrated in her butt footprint when sitting on the roof.

I would worry more about snow removal and accidentally impacting the glass roof with the removal tool.

Keep the climate control on and the snow wont stick? ?

windshield and window glass I’ve seen fuyao markings on, haven’t seen roof glass markings. Perhaps someone with a truck will post a picture

Might I suggest a stool on the ground to stand on to clean it? That looks dangerous as all hell standing on a wet cross bar.
seriously. i dont think you should be standing on crossbars with wet flip-flops. surprised this didnt become one of those America's Funniest Home videos. not smart.

honestly not sure if the window should be able to handle that weight or not. on one hand probably should but on the other, i dont think you should put that much weight on a large, relatively flat window surface. if you were standing on the bed and just leaning over, there would have been a lot less pressure on the glass.

anyway, still surprised it isnt covered under warranty but i guess they are saying its not faulty but owner is at fault?

"...and then immediately update docs, notify customers, etc to warn people going forward. "

Rivian should immediately update the parts specification, and then warn their suppliers that this kind of failure is unacceptable.

My roof cracked on its own. I didn’t touch it or put any weight on it.

Hopefully they can get the supplier to fix this soon otherwise it's going to have to be fixed on a ton of cars....
