There's no need to do that, because people have already been told that since May, your price is whatever Rivian says it is at time of production/delivery. If Rivian raises prices tomorrow, everyone with a reservation since May of this year will pay that price (unless they raise it again before you take delivery). Everyone before May has their price.if I were RJ, I’d announce that there will be a price increase for new orders placed after 1/1/23 (or sooner).
Wait, what?? Not following how in any scenario that would be the case. Regardless, your price is safe, I don't think there is any doubt about that. Now, what you receive in return for that price......that's still fluid.Hey R.J. I'm still here with an order from Nov. 28, 2018 and a 2024 delivery estimate because I do not live the a "correct" part of the country. Am I to pay more for my R1T than folks who ordered three years after me????? That goes beyond unfair.

I'm in group 2 and there was a recent price increase on the quad motor went up from 6K to 8K but my configuration still shows 6K so i'm hoping mine is locked in as well. You don't really specify who you are referring to regarding who would be getting price increases. Everyone falls into three categories:
1. Pre March 1: These are locked and they aren't changing. They will manage margins through cutting costs, but they aren't touching this one again. They even just said on the call about how these orders affect margins in the near term. These are locked.
2. Between March 1 and May (?): Pre-orders locked in at the post March price increase. They haven't specifically addressed just how locked these are, but given the change in May, I would assume they are also locked.
3. May 2022 and forward: These are "reservations" and they have no pricing associated with them, so technically they can't have a price increase, there's just "the price" at time of delivery.
So, yes, prices will forever be dynamic and change as needed, but the only group that will impact is Group #3.
Yep. I think 1 and 2 are locked at what their account shows, 3 will be told what it costs when the time comes.I'm in group 2 and there was a recent price increase on the quad motor went up from 6K to 8K but my configuration still shows 6K so i'm hoping mine is locked in as well.
I am getting worried that my old LE R1s may just get thrown completely to the back to sendoff higher margin vehicles . . . . So much for their early preorder holders. You don't really specify who you are referring to regarding who would be getting price increases. Everyone falls into three categories:

Still FUDI'm just preparing reservations holders like myself who are still waiting to take delivery.
Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst.
They can go ahead and remove the fragile sunroof and replace the fancy electric HVAC vents with good ol mechanical ones on mine.No way they would try raising prices on pre march orders. After trying it and then taking it back the PR hit from trying again would be terrible. On post-march orders, yea, they will raise the price at least once a year - forever.
Since they can't raise prices on older orders, they will just continue to remove features. At some point we might prefer that they just raised the price. Like when they realize they can save nearly 1K by switching to chinese no-name tires.
Chinese no name tires? WTF?! Real or BS?No way they would try raising prices on pre march orders. After trying it and then taking it back the PR hit from trying again would be terrible. On post-march orders, yea, they will raise the price at least once a year - forever.
