Remind me to copy the seal in silicone as epdm rubber will shrink and crack over time .

Doubles as a camp table? Does this mean you get to sit in the bed of the truck with a nifty panel in front of you, so you can enjoy your Chardonnay and caviar?
How in the world is that going to really work?
If the panels are interlocking all you would need is some legs to have a large table.

Once the interlocking slats are removed from the bed you simply assemble them with table legs that are stored in the Gear Tunnel.

In early December I was told by a guide sitting in Normal that a prototype design allowing the manual cover to be stored against the back of the cab had been presented to staff. She made it clear that this was not necessarily the version that would be produced. I've followed up with her since 1/11 and surprise, "no new news".

Genius! Or how about they make the panels as solar panels so we can get some free juice??

I believe this is the reason behind the manual tonneau cover delay. They are designing and engineering the cover to be multipurpose and avoid a powered tonneau fiasco.

A table or recovery board capability would be a nice bonus.

Agreed, hope we can cancel if we don’t like how it turns out. On an unrelated note, was chatting with the service rep when I brought the truck to SJ service center and he was saying he expects the new powered tonneau design to be compatible for a retrofit. Seems to contradict what I heard from my guide last year.
I was told the same by a service rep. He said all the wiring was still present, it just needed the tonneau unit and a software update. I’m hoping that’s true, but not really holding my breath.

I really don’t like the look of any of the modded covers that sit on top of the bed. Using the rails = a cleaner OEM look IMO.
I agree 100%. In fact, the rails have allowed these awesome DIY solutions.
Rivian stated in October that rails would be installed on trucks built over the following couple months, but later removed! If my build has no rails I'll be super disappointed.

Anyone heard updates on when the manual tonneau cover is coming out? I'm hoping to have mine by June this year so I can use it on my first R1T road trip.
