Final note on my suspected tax discrepancies in my purchasing docs - looks like Rivian's numbers were, indeed, accurate. It's not entirely clear on the purchase agreement, but the taxable amount, in Arizona at least, is the vehicle price + destination fee ($1500). Once I figured that out, the tax calculations on the state website lined up with the Rivian purchase agreement. It doesn't appear the $225 doc fee is subject to tax in Rivian's breakdown.

The final issue I'm trying to clarify is Rivian is charging county tax in Arizona, which is reasonable since if you buy from a local dealer the sales tax amount if State + County + City. However, I also found on this page from the AZ Dept of Revenue (https://azdor.gov/sites/default/files/media/BROCHURE_VUTCalculator_fs.pdf):

"When you purchase a vehicle from an out-of-state dealer and register it in Arizona, you show your intent to store or use it in Arizona. Therefore, the purchase is subject to state and city use tax. There is no county use tax."

I'm not sure if Rivian is considered an out of state dealer or if they happen to have an Arizona dealer's license. I can punt this topic off to my regional section.

EDIT: My guide tells me Rivian DOES have a dealer's license in Arizona, so county sales tax is applicable.

I have pre 3/1 pricing and have an R1 Shop order en route - confirmed on 8/8, so 10 days ago. I was reviewing my order details and it looks like Rivian is charging a $1500 for destination fee. I thought we pre 3/1 orders got the old $1075 destination fee?

What has others' recent experience been with this?

Also, the Rivian tax calculations seem a little off as compared to my State (Arizona) tax calculator. Have folks had similar experiences with potentially incorrect tax calculations?

Well flue prices have increased. And the delivery trucks are most likely diesel

Tesla's Destination Fee is now $1,390.

We took Factory delivery of our R1T last Wednesday (04/26/2023). The destination fee on the window sticker is $1,800. Our original order date is 11/28/2018.

Understood. However, there is only one (1) Destination Fee nationwide. Those customers that are relatively near a Distribution Center are *required* to pick their vehicles up and on top of that supplement the additional cost to get vehicles to far-flung destinations.

Unregulated junk fees that lack transparency. Maybe the transportation fee is legit…how would we know? It’s also wildly different between manufacturers.

FWIW, as far as I'm concerned, Rivian should up the Destination Fee by another $1500 and make all paint colors except RB and CY be "free" selections and RB and CY cost just $100k.
