This will be the closest RAN charger to me, so I've been keeping an eye on it as well. It seems like they've been "close" to opening it for months. The latest I saw was the PlugShare update from a month ago saying that it was all dug up (presumably to wire up the charging stations). If you find an updated status, please update this tread, as I'd also love to know what is going on with it.
I'm planning some Summer travel out that way, and it would be great to have the RAN charger available.

They pulled them out and are re-installing :-( A few weeks ago where they had been installed was a big hole and all the equipment and been pulled and moved to the side. I had stopped by a while back and remember there was something off about the install but can't quite remember what - I think the pedestals might have been backwards.

Yup, I was there about 3 weeks ago and it was a mess. I posted a pic in the RAN charger thread. Someone said they asked a worker there and they said the install was approved and then an inspector came back from vacation and "unapproved" it and they needed to redo something. It has been some time and they had digging equipment on site that must be costing someone money to have there so I would be surprised if they don't have them mounted again by now.

If someone goes through that way, please share anything you see. I'm sure that's the closest/best RAN for quite a few of us NOVA folks.
I go back and forth to Staunton area and GW Nat'l Forest all the time. This would be really nice to have. The EA's all work well, but I'm tired of hanging out in WalMart parking lots.

True, but ... not only does Staunton have a 350kw EA, but 10 miles away in Waynesboro is a brand new RAN station! We should all be so lucky
But you're right that Front Royal will be really helpful for a lot of folks, and I would bet will see more traffic than the other 4 they just opened along the Drive/Parkway.
