Thank you so much. Looks like not a lot of tools needed. I’m gonna try to rent them from Home Depot for the day after the boards arrive.

Anyone hear of other options on boards? All I’ve seen are these black ones so far which seems odd given the market opportunity.

Looking to put some car door sill guards on all 4 doors (this area is bound to get scratched) would prefer something to match the overall look and feel. Hoping someone has tried some of the options available and can recommend.

I’d bet you’d see an R2 with OEM running boards LONG BEFORE you see an R1 with OEM running boards.

I went with EVSportline and could t be happier.

We have had the EV Sportline running boards on our R1T for several months now. We could not be happier with them. They work very well for getting into and out of the truck, and they look great on the truck. We installed them ourselves.

We have a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck. It has GM running boards. These were a dealer installed option. This is how GM avoids further government crash testing, etc. Unfortunately, Rivian doesn't have dealers to do this. I'm guessing that the Rivian Service Centers are considered the manufacturer and can't do these add-ons without further government intervention.

For instance, Rivian is requiring that if you add a spare tire to your R1T, you must bring it to a Service Center for installation so that they can add a new payload sticker to your door jamb because they are the manufacturer. If my Silverado needed a spare tire, I could just go to a dealer and buy one without any new payload sticker.

I feel that Rivian not having any dealers is a very good thing. Like many other things, though, it is a double edged sword.

Does anyone know what slider/running board was installed on the R1s that did the Rubicon Trail. I saw it on Rivian’s official Instagram account.

I thought it was the 'official' one that was floating around recently... it looked like it didn't stick out far enough to be any of the currently available options. eg, couldn't be used as a step...

I think those are rock sliders for protection only - there are ones available with a step, the one they had does not have a step from what can be seen.

Grab from Motor trend - Rubicon coverage -
"With the exception of steel rock sliders, front tow hitch receivers, and a roof rack loaded with recovery equipment and a spare tire—all additions that made the 7,000-pound electric SUV even heavier—the Rivian R1S was entirely stock, down to the 34-inch Pirelli all-terrain tires.
