I selected work, but also have the 11kw Rivian charger at home. But the majority of my charging has been at work. I should probably test the mobile charger, jus to see if it works.

Been using a Grizzl-e w/ 15-40 plug 50 amp breaker for almost 2 years. It works great and I went this route since it lives outside.

Whats the deal with that hose rack? Do you like it? Always looking for better hose systems but can't tell if that would be easy to use or annoying.

Lectron 48A because most others wouldn't confirm if they were outside rated. 50/50 home vs free public charging near work. Rivian mobile charger lives in the truck most days, rarely used. Disposable cheap level 1 charger used at airports (bought it used around $130).

Its called Geckos toes and I like them, so I have them around my house. Also a version for extension cords.

Hello my dudes!

I was talking to another Rivian owner earlier today, and the conversation turned to charging. He sprung for the Rivian Wall Charger for $800, and I've been exclusively using the included Mobile Charger. It got me thinking (and product planning ? ) about what we all generally do.
  • Are most of us using the freebie Mobile Charger?
  • How often are folks springing for the Rivian branded Wall Charger?
  • Is there a large group of us using third party chargers? (and if so, which ones?)
  • How many of us juice up using DCFC?
  • Who are the lucky ones that are able to charge predominately at work?
(I was able to do this with my Model S for nearly a year. It was awesome!)
If you choose to share, please indicate your primary charging method only.

And yes, I know they are technically called an EVSE, but if Tom Moloughney is calling them chargers at this point, so am I.
I use an Emporia charger set to 48a. Has been very reliable. Can be set to 60a if I hardwire. Can pair with Emporia home electrical

I use an Emporia EV charger set at 48a. Can be hardwired to set at 60a. Can pair with emporia electricity monitor to help save your electricity or use only solar to charge your EV. 300 bucks. Tom Moloughney gave a great review on EVSE. Why Rivian is charging 800 bucks is beyond me

OpenEVSE for me...been using it since 2021 with no issues. Definitely a bit for the nerds out there, but since it connects to MQTT it's easy to export data to various environments like EmonCMS. I built the kit version, but they offer them fully-built for those uncomfortable with doing it themselves. I have the 40A version, but I'm told I could swap out the cable and it would otherwise be capable of 48A.

One nice thing with the built-in wifi connection I was able to reconfigure it on-the-fly while staying at an RV campground to use L1 24A charging and not having to worry about always setting the current limit in the truck's UI every time you plug in.

If I had need to charge multiple EVs I'd probably look at a unit that could do power sharing, like the Wallbox Pulsar Plus or the Tesla Universal Wall Connector. Alternatives include the Grizzle-E Duo or the dual-headed Clipper Creek units.

I run a Tesla J1772 wall charger to match wife’s Tesla NACS wall charger for MY. Each on 60amp dedicated circuits. 24 ft long charging cable is a nice feature.
I also use Tesla J1772 wall charger. The installation was easy and it's seamless. No issue and charges well.

Uggh, it looks like there are very few people in my boat. I live in a two unit condo in Boston with on-street parking, no driveway, no garage. There is no opportunity for me to charge at home, so I have to park it overnight at the nearest municipal lot and walk home whenever my R1T gets low. Then I have to walk back and get it in the morning (helps me get my steps in.) They have 4 hr max from 8am to 10pm so I have to do it outside those hours. I didn’t think they were really enforcing it, but if I drop off early, or pick up late, I see chalk marks or stickers on my tire, so somebody is keeping track. Hopefully the city can come up with a solution for getting power from my condo, safely across the sidewalk, to the curb. Even though I’m not guaranteed a spot in front of my house, I’d be happy to charge from home once a week.

My primary is a L1 (110v) outlet with a Tesla Mobile Connector. Sharing duty between a Model Y and (via Lectron adapter) an R1T and Zero DSR/X. I'm a psychopath ?

This gets me 20-30 miles overnight on the R1T, which is just enough to cover my daily commute in the R1T; my wife works from home so generally I can catch up with any of the Tesla miles by charging it during the day while I'm at work. I make up the difference via fast charging (e.g. road trips) or occasional L2 charging at work (3kW chargepoint).

When the weather is nice, I ride the Zero, which can charge over L1 enough to cover my commute in a couple hours.
