Hi Folks,

I have a newer R1S without the power socket under the screen. I want to mount a phone so that I can use waze while driving but I am looking for some guidance on how best to route to get power. What have others done?

Thank You!

It's an annoyance, but I put a mount next to the center display and then ran a USB cable back to the center console. Really wish they'd left the 12V or at least put some USB ports on the dash.

Plug into the OBD-II port in the driver footwell, then run the cable up through the moulding under the steering wheel. Plug into there. This is documented in other threads.

I did the same thing, but instead of messing with the pulling out panels from side and under driver seat, wired in door...works like a charm!
I did the same thing, but feed the wire on side of door as I didn't want to pull the panels out from drivers side. It's clean and works like a charm. Put some pics to show.

I just installed the Scosche OBD adapter. Can anyone confirm if the power shuts down after the car is off? I am getting conflicting answers on whether it stays on or shuts down.

I have this adapter for a dashcam. It SOMETIMES stays on. At home, when the truck goes to sleep it will turn off predictably. When out and about it turns off about 85% of the time. It seems to stay on when there is a lot of Gear Guard action. Also there are issues with it turning ON. Most of the time, it will turn on within 30 seconds of getting into gear but occasionally, it can take up to 5 minutes!

Overall, not that reliable but it's easy to install. I'm working on the fuse tap idea next.

The two power adapters I’ve used - and recommend -

Dash Charger Power - off when truck sleeps (fuse tap off USB fuse on drivers fuse panel)

Mirror Tap Dash Cam - off when sleeping/but I believe awake when gear guard is active (just due to power source of mirror)

Any pictures on where the USB tap is? Any special instructions on how to do the fuse tap?
