VW Bidirectional Charging

VW just announced bidirectional charging for all of their EVs with larger battery packs available with the latest software update. There's been talk from Rivian about the same, but haven't heard anything in a while. Rivian would need to also release a new charger for this feature I assume.

IIRC on several occasions RJ and other high ranking Rivian officials have mentioned the hardware for V2H is already in our vehicles, so with a SW update and new EVSE designed for bi-directional charging we should be good to go.

What a huge asset it would be to have a huge 135kWh battery pack ready to power our homes if needed! The average home consumes 26kWh/day, so with a little conservation you could easily get that down to 20kWh/day which would give you 5-6 days of power from our vehicles.

But it’s worth pointing out the VW announcement only applies to Europe for now, according to the linked article. I wonder why. Europe uses 220v routinely, but I’m not sure why that would matter.

You could do that with the 120outlet in the bed today with a little creativity and a basic transfer switch. I have my house setup that way today for the furnace air handler, the fridge, modem and some lights.

Can you actually buy a Wallbox Quasar 2? I looked at their website, but found "Complete the form to stay up-to-date on all Quasar 2 news." - but no place where the price was listed, or where one could select purchase.
