The Autobhan is a fun place. One time, I was doing about 155 overtaking another car at a slightly slower speed when a Porsche "flashed" me. The other car slowed down and I got in the right lane. The Porsche disappeared. Must have been close to 200mph. Glad you're enjoying the Rivian there!
Ha, I remember taking my wife to the places around (West) Germany where I grew up and we rented a car - base rental there is a 3-series wagon. We were cruising at about 220 km/h when I started to do the math on how much that is in miles... then we slowed down a bit.

They build the roads for those speeds, so it's safer more manageable to go at those speeds. Our roads are not suitable for unlimited speeds. Also, we're dumb.

Something is wrong with your "car" brother
I agree with Dark-Fx, I took this down a trip from Chicago to Phoenix. I hit the 110 limit a few times passing and it handle it like a dream changing lanes. Actually, the beautify of this 7,000lb beast is that it is a sports car or a Off road beast or a 11K lb hauler. All at a touch of a button. So I would take your truck to Rivian to address what ever your concern is my friend.
The Mcleran inspired suspension is world class.

I “lingered” in the left lane for a hot second in our base Mercedes on the autobahn trying to pass a car at 200 kph…hell hath no fury like a German trying to get by on the Autobahn.

I regularly get to drive at top speed (111/112mph) on the autobahn and it drove pretty smooth. A bit of hood flutter but not worrisome. I drive hard and my R1T is amazing.
Been there. Hell, at 110, you’re in everyone’s way. Stay outta that left lane!

I would kill for the German driving culture here in the states. Pass or move over.
We did European delivery on a BMW 330 years ago. It wasn't the first time I drove on the Autobahn, so I had learned the culture previously and couldn't wait to drive my own car on the 'bahn instead of a rental. I often reminicse about that awesome culture while driving in the US behind some @$$#*%& driving 50 mph in the left lane in a 65 mph zone.

You’re joking on the speed restriction right? I’m in TX where we have one of the, if not the, highest highway speed limit of 85mph. This car doesn’t inspire confidence at that speed. If you want a race car, buy a race car, not a 7000lb+ SUV.
The R1S can easily do 100 mph like its nothing. 112 mph with 835hp is ridiculously low. 130 minimum.

I've routinely hit the speed limiter in my R1S w/ 20"AT in sport mode and have felt completely confident in the handling. Even with the added weight, I feel just as safe as I do in my Volvo XC60 T8 or Highlander Hybrid which both happen to have speed limiters @ 112mph.

Tire speed rating is the reason, end of story. No manufacturer can allow speed over the tire rating and it's not easy to find AT tires rated with high speed and high load. They probably could have got Pirelli to do a road tire for them with high load & high speed, but c'mon, this is an ADVENTURE vehicle.

Furthernore, out-right top speed isn't very useful in day-to-day driving in most parts of the US. Want a top fuel dragster? buy one. This is a truck. And as far as trucks go (and this heavy) the R1's handling and performance is better than what most consumers believe to be possible.

don't need it, don't buy it

but many of us feel 110 isn't suitable for a vehicle with this power output

will I ever use it? probably not

but it's nice to know that I could pay to have the limit increased to a more reasonable speed like 125-130

for the infotainment and a few other bits, Tesla hits it out of the park

would love to know exactly what RJ's plans are to address all the shortcomings with the current products and tech

Would be genius marketing move if they added even just 5% power via update. And maybe added a chill mode for those who don’t want so much power/any range trade offs. Default is the full power.

I think we should have a full power mode, don't care about a range hit. Sometimes you want ALL the power :)

As someone who has to share the road with you people (especially the Leadville guy), I think maybe I'll email Rivian and ask them to lower the cap down to 95.
I think I’ve seen the same R1T driving like a maniac on I70, agree with your idea :CWL:
