Launch Editions in R1 shop

I noticed that there are over a dozen launch editions (both R1S and R1T) in the shop now. I know they trickled through the shop last year, but I'm surprised there are so many in 2024. Does anyone know if these are old vehicles or if Rivian has produced a recent batch of launch editions? I'm interested given that it comes with the AT tires without an upcharge , but not if it's over a year old (customer service wouldn't answer this question).

^ being it's still Jan... I can guarantee every Shop vehicle is a 2023 VIN if that's important to you.

FWIW- Rivian was selling 2022 VIN's in the Shop as late as Sept 2023, and not telling prospective buyers they were 2022 VIN's.

I picked a shop vehicle last week and it's a 2024 VIN. Did you mean you guarantee every launch edition is a 2023?

Are you sure it's a 2024 VIN?

Even as late as last Sept mostly rejected, orphaned, repaired, etc.. vehicles ended up in the shop. That's why Rivian was still selling 2022 VIN's in Sept of 2023 in the Shop (confirmed via posts on this forum)

If they changed that and are now offering freshly built vehicles that are only a month old in the shop, that changes the old rules.

Your 2024 VIN got delivered Jan 2024 which means it was built in Dec 2023 (that's the month Rivian changes VIN years). That's great news for you! Congrats... hopefully Rivian has stopped selling prior build year vehicles in the shop or at least informs potential buyers they're purchasing a "year old" vehicle before they pull the trigger.

That's a silly statement. Rivian didn't stop production, because if they did they would never meet their Q1 numbers or their 2024 numbers. Because they're a public company, a halt to production would have to be public information. At their December rate of production there have been over 4000 R1 produced already this year. There are dozens of people on this forum who have posted 2024 VIN numbers and 2024 build dates from the sticker.

youre probably seeing launch editions because you have a pre-price increase reservation. i reserved an R1S on July 2022 and see no launch editions.

I think they are producing them as regions open up. That way you can still get a launch edition if they were late getting to your service area. They are 2024's in the shop or at least that's what I heard.

Regardless, I don't think the launch editions have anything of note except the bracelet.

I do. I selected a Launch Green R1S from the shop on Feb 26. I was expecting a 2023 VIN when I picked it, but was happy to see a 2024 VIN once it popped up in my account.

Yeah it doesn't seem impossible they would still be manufacturing launch editions. Folks that had them reserved likely lived in regions that Rivian just started delivering cars and then decided they didn't want them for some reason or had already selected another vehicle that was available sooner.

Per the service tech that worked on my truck a few weeks back...
There will be no 2024 with Meridian.

My 2024 R1S LE does not have it.
