Quick question(s) - Is there a way to keep the gear tunnel light on when driving? If not that, how about the 120v power outlet? How can one set it to "on" when driving?

Purpose - We are taking a three hour trip to the ocean with our two cats. The litter box is in the gear tunnel and the little hatch between the rear cabin and gear tunnel will remain open for them to come and go, from the gear tunnel. For this reason, I would like to have some low power LED light on in there for the duration of the trip.

Note: Not looking for a debate about traveling with pets, etc.

Not sure about the light, but does your 120V gear tunnel outlet not remain on when you set the outlets to stay on from your infotainment screen?

I thought that only worked when parked/camp mode. Will check. Ideally, I would prefer for the overhead light to be on, rather than plugging in a light into the 120v socket, when I might be able to keep on (backup plan).

Yes, 120v stays on in gear tunnel while driving when turned on from screen

I charge camp lights in my gear tunnel when driving.
Thanks! Any idea, re keeping the overhead light on?

I'm very confused by the use case here. I thought you were looking to power something like an appliance while driving from the 120V. You just want a light to remain on in the gear tunnel? For what purpose? Also, you should always prefer using the DC 12V outlets over any of the AC 120V outlets for efficiency reasons. Does the gear tunnel not have 12V or USB-C?

I'm pretty sure those are just a mechanical switch... door open = light on... Have you tried turning on your cabin lights and seeing if that turned them on? that seems like the only way I could think of getting those to turn on... If that doesn't work, I think you're left with modifying something or just using a 12v or 120v light in the tunnel.

I also don't understand the use case, buuuuut: gear tunnel has 12v socket on one side and 120v plug on the other. The 120v plug is managed through the same process as all 120v plugs, and I think the 12v is on when the truck is on (camp mode 'always on' *should* keep it on, but I haven't tested that)

Checked out the UI and it seems there is a gear tunnel exception.

Turning the outlets on keeps the 12V plugs hot too, that's how I power my fridge in the trunk of the R1S

That's not an exception -- it's saying to unplug non-Rivian accessories because the gear tunnel is air tight and sealed. Powering a fridge in there would overheat the appliance because there's no airflow, for example. I'm assuming those outlets DO remain on, they just extend zero warranty to you if you catch your car on fire powering something that needs proper airflow.

Anyone know about the little rectangular white led light in the ceiling of the gear tunnel?

Seriously, if you can provide context, or use case, or SOMETHING other than just random little tiny questions, I'm betting the smart people in this forum can assist you.

Yes, I know it's a little rectangular light that turns on when the gear tunnel is open, but what are you trying to know?

Hold up, I just realized it's you @jebinc! You're not trolling us, right? what are you trying to figure out?! :CWL:

As a cat owner myself, I think that's a solid idea. You might want to just go low tech and get a dim rechargeable light. I'm sure they won't need too much light back there to find their way.
