I feel kinda silly because it seems like it should be such an easy thing, but I could use some tips to get the Brain Exploder tow hook mount on. It won’t seat over the top of the tow hook, even if I push down hard on it. I’ve emailed the company and they’ve been very responsive, but have just advised to use more force. They also said to use the screw to get the clamp to close, but I can’t get it closed enough for the screw threads to engage. It hits the lower part of the clamp at an angle so the threads don’t catch, even with me trying to squeeze it shut while turning the screw. I get that it’s supposed to be a snug fit to stop it from rotating, but it’s a D shape so rotation really shouldn’t be an issue that would require a crazy amount of force to get the upper half of the clamp to seat. I’d appreciate any tips or tricks because it seems like it shouldn’t be this hard.

Time and pressure is the key.

Take your time and you will need to use lots of pressure to try to get it to slip / snap / shut tight onto the tow hook

I remember how snug it was to try to get it to more or less flex / snug on extremely tight to make sure it doesn't wiggle or move from the tow hook. I had to snap on and try to seat the top half and then bottom half.

I placed it like you did where it belongs and had to use lots of pressure to get the top clip to slip on properly / flush with the top half and then push the bottom up to meet the top section and use the screws to finish up the rest.

Also don't tighten it up all the way until you put your plate on fully / go back into the vehicle to test if the plate is in the way of any sensors / camera. Only tighten it up fully once you're happy with the results.

This is unbelievable to me but I at least wanted to follow up. I struggled again trying to get the clamp on the right tow hook for 10 minutes. No luck. I figured it was pointless but tried the left tow hook. It popped on no problem. Makes zero sense why it would make any difference but…it’s on now!

I've had this one for about a year and a half, I've had no issues and I've had it on and off a few times. It fits snug because the mounting surfaces perfectly match the tow hook profile. With this in mind you can align the shape and it goes on without any forcing or drama. I believe I opened it up and got the top in first, made sure it was seated properly, then closed the hinge, then installed the screw. This one works really well and differs from other offerings because it mounts the plate very close to the hook, which makes it much less sensitive to setting off the parking sensors.
