I took shipment of my R1T in February of 2023. When Rivian asked to opt in for the free NACS Adapter (late March), I responded immediately. I am doing a bunch of travel in August and am counting on having that option. The fact that Rivian support has ZERO clue as to where I sit in the queue is maddening. Rather not but an aftermarket adapter but with a shipment estimate I could at least make an informed decision.

Rivian likely doesn't know because Tesla is shipping them out and only finds out just before your batch goes out. No need to be upset with Rivian about that and I certainly wouldn't hinge your travel plans on getting one or not. If it's important enough, just buy an aftermarket adapter. I've been using my A2Z with great success.

Understood but if it purely a function of when you took delivery, someone knows that January 2023 deliveries are up next (for instance). Zero transparency is hard to understand - even though it is Tesla that is shipping them.

I took delivery June 1, 2022 and still nothing since the initial email. It sounds like they're still working through April and May 2022 deliveries as quickly as they can whenever Tesla provides the adaptors. In the meantime, the A2Z I ordered a couple of weeks ago arrives tomorrow so I'll have that for an upcoming road trip just in case, though I've done plenty of driving without it and never really had any issues finding charging other than having to wait in line 2-3 times.

I can tell you right now with high confidence, you're not going to have your free Rivian adapter in time for August travels. Make your plans accordingly.

It’s weird no one here seems to talk about Tesla magic dock chargers. You can filter on your nav for Tesla chargers, and turn off locations that are incompatible or require the adapter. Anything left showing is a magic dock and you can use it. Just used one last week and it was great.

There's only a handful of them around.

Luckily I have 2 on my travels.

We keep talking about this, but A2Z is the way to go. Don't stress about your summer travel.
You know what would stop us talking about it? A clear direction and expectation from Rivian.

Haven’t you been following along? I took delivery in Feb 2023 also…I’d be surprised if my adapter shows up this year.
If you “need” it, buy one of the ones talked about on this forum, and keep it boxed as long as possible to potentially return or sell it if yours shows up.
That said, I have had zero issues charging at EA, ChargePoint, and even Tesla Magicdock locations

I don't buy Rivian doesn know. They jist don't want to give the bad news that this is going to take a really long time and new buyers can't expect to see one for years at the current pace.

I don't think anybody said it was going to be quick. Everybody online assumed it would all ship in a few months and are disappointed that it's not sooner. With the whole supercharger team being fired to paused shipments, I'm sure Rivian is also throwing their hands in the air wondering how long this will all take.

The way I see it is that it's basically a free gift. Rivian could have easily just added this to their store and everyone would have been happy to shell out a few hundred to buy it. You could then maybe complain if it took too long. This is the equivalent of someone offering you a stick of gum and then complaining that it's not your favorite flavor.

I have to believe somebody at Rivian high enough in executive team....is or can be in contact with somebody high enough in the Tesla executive team, to have a conversation that would result in an anticipated timeline for numbers of units available each month, then multiply that by .8...and then communicate to customer base a reasonable expectation at this time.

Hard to believe for me that all Rivian knows is when a crate shows up...they open it....see how many are in it.
