First time, hopefully long-time poster here..

I don't have a huge garage, but I would love to buy a new v2 2025 R1S or R1T. I keep seeing maximum ride height and kneel mode with these, but it isn't clear what the lowest possible parking height is. I don't live near a demo ride show room so I'm at a loss. I've even thought about trying to modify my garage, but I can't get a straight answer on what that height is. Can someone please help me understand the lowest possible parking height of a new 2025 v2 Rivian R1S or R1T?

Thanks!

Max height for a R1T is 78.3”, lowest driveable height is 73.1”. A standard garage door is 84”.

Do you need the lowest parking height or the lowest driving height? Lowest driving height as said above is 73.1”. Kneel mode only happens once you put it in park. It isn’t available if you are in sport mode because it’s already in the lowest driving position. It’s also not available in Off road or towing modes.

Preface this by saying I have a V1 2023 R1S 21" wheels. The height of the exterior frame of my garage door is 84 inches. However the lowest point of the garage door itself fully open is 78 in. My standard practice is to put the vehicle in park in the driveway and allow it to kneel while the garage door opens. As long as you drive into garage less than 5 mph, the Rivian will stay at kneeling height. I measure the kneeling height at 72 in to the top of the shark fin antenna. Just a bit under 73 in to the highest point of the cargo cross bars.

For the R1S at the lowest suspension setting I would assume you can park in any garage unless it's exceptionally low where average tall people would be unable to stand up straight without hitting their head. The lowest ride setting is lower than the clearance height of some compact SUVs and all minivans.

Thanks! My house was built in the late 60’s like much of New England so today’s “standard” garage size doesn’t really apply. I have two bays in my garage and each are 74” tall x 100” wide.

I’ll try to dig, but if anyone knows what the height is for the lowest possible ride height on the smallest tires (20”?) would be a huge help. So close to ordering one if I can make sure this isn’t an issue.

Appreciate it, everyone!

PS - I *wish* there was a parking mode like kneel where you could drive very slowly. It would be an easy OTA fix that would open up new customers instantly. ?‍♂?

If you put the truck in to sport lowest it is lower than kneel mode and low is the same height as kneel mode… although I’m not sure what suspension height variability the dual motor variant offers.

I have the same issue. I put it in Sport mode and then am able to drive in. my Rivian is in the shop replacing the broken shark fin antenna. Argh.

Attn Rivian, a better solution is a macro that would lower to with sport mode or lowest, when you open that garage door. I must do 2 things every time I enter the garage, open the door, and, place in sport mode. If I only do one of the 2, I am replacing the garage door, or replacing the Rivian antenna, again.

You'll have no issues with 74" clearance. In one of the condos we visit often (which has a very low ceiling height garage) the parking garage steel clearance bar is at 6-2". At the lowest drive setting we have a solid 2"+ clear above the shark fin. We have 20" ATs.

If you don't live close to a service center you would be taking a gamble. There is a very good chance you'll need service in the first few months.

The 20” wheels have the largest diameter tires, 21/22” options sit a half inch lower just due to the tire size difference.

This was true, but with Gen 2, base trim 20” AS tires (new Rivian specific Goodyear Wrangler Territory) are the same size as 21”/22” (275/60R20, as opposed to 275/65R20 on AT wheel/tire package). But this is true if talking about the 20” AT wheels/tires.

I also have a small New England garage door, although it's a bit taller at 76."

The good news is that I have a Gen 1 AT 20" (34" tires) and it fits at standard ride height. I did have to change the elbow on the garage door opener to pull it up higher to get the clearance I need, but I do not need to remember to change drive modes or lower the truck or anything.

Do keep in mind that as in my case, the lowest height you have to clear may not be the opening. The opener or a bracket may hang lower than the door opening.

You may be OK in a vehicle on 33" tires with 74" of clearance even at normal height, and should be OK at low.

FWIW, it seems that sport->lowest (if your vehicle has that mode) is the lowest possible setting, even lower than kneel mode.

I also have a 60's vintage garage that is not standard, and I couldn't find this information. I did take a test drive recently and was able to follow up with this question. I asked specifically about a Gen 2 R1S with 22" wheels. this is the answer I got:

The height of the R1S varies due to the adjustable air suspension - however, the low/park height is 71.85in (including antennae)

The width, with the mirrors folded out, is 88.4in.

It looks like there are a lot of different drive options that can affect this, but it will work for me. Hope it helps.
