Cool approach to limit access and contain your pet. We have smaller dogs and use an Amazon hammock setup with two dog "chairs" that dogs sit in, with harnesses on and fastened to LATCH connectors. It's pretty fast to take in and out, but dog hair proves that entropy exists and gets everywhere eventually. One dog can jump right in, the other has to be picked up and placed in the chair. Dogs can lie down in chairs when they get bored and hammock has mesh for Dog Mode climate control vents.

^This setup does allow one passenger who loves dogs to be part of the back row by clicking in belt via an access on the hammock. Or in a rush I just put the chairs in...

How the heck did you get the door protectors to go into the window frame?!?! I’ve tried 3 brands…is there a trick to it?
This brand has simple plastic right angle inserts. I just inserted them between the window and the inner window seal. I agree they were tricky to get in the first time. But now they go in pretty easily. I think adding a VERY LIGHT coat of spray silicon lube on these would make it easier and perhaps in the winter when everything is frozen up and stiff that will be needed. I try to leave them installed as the door cover attaches to them via Velcro.

REALLY?
This is like scratching your left ear with your right foot.
Just get a rear seat cargo cover& dog deck

https://evsportline.com/products/ri...VzSp6UyfyBQlkYdsMAjrQaxOf2Ryjsv--gVQDBWfDMeLT

And an Amazon seat cover

https://www.amazon.com/Kytely-Water...i=B07LBL1NDB&ref_=pd_basp_d_rpt_ba_s_1_t&th=1

AND YOU ARE DONE!

lower entry so the dog doesn't need to jump up high.
Remove in seconds and have a clean back seat for passengers

I agree, the set up you have is super easy and I had it in my 4Runner for my current and previous dogs (both labs). It works great, if you don't mind dog slobber on all the headrests (back of the fronts and front of the backs), slobber on the doors, and hair that accumulates and flies around the cab.

Over time, it just feels too dirty for me back there. I even had two backseat hammocks and switched them weekly so I could always have a set in the car while one was in the laundry. It just never felt clean enough and always felt like a dog truck.

My new set up addresses those issues and also keeps my dog from occasionally making her way to the front seats when left alone (I should have mentioned that in my original post, but a crate eliminates that temptation).

The hammock is great, no doubt, but for my needs, the crate has been far superior and it might even demonstrate that I can scratch my left ear with my right foot. Who knew?!

We simply put a motorcycle cargo net up to keep the dogs in the back.

Here's our solution. We put the flip the seats up and place the Thunderbolt Under-Seat Storage Cover over the black hole. Insert the bamboo braces so that the seats stay up when we speed up quickly. Then we put a packing blanket over the top. Keeps her contained. We do also have a seatbelt for her (not shown).

Interesting…guess I just got to try a little harder. Do you have aftermarket tint, and if so, any scratching issues? Do you roll those windows up/down ever or frequently? Thanks!
No tint. I use the "vent windows" option without issues, but don't roll the rear windows down all the way with these in. No scratches so far (it is soft plastic vs. glass)

After trying lots of stuff here is what I found worked best for us:
Embrace the reality of the muddy paw prints and the errant fur. They wash out. It's a truck. Dogs live here. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, this. The seats are pretty tough. The snout prints wash right off the window tint. Whatever.

Dog DNA and trucks go together. For us the hammock style has been adequate to control fur. Popeye (so named for obvious reasons) likes the added cushion of a cheap Amazon bed. We also like a layer between dog and seat not only for fur but also because our GSPs tend to sit with kickstand up as shown in photo.
