Should only do efficiency after 500 or 1k miles. My general grabbers was sub 2.0 for the first 500 miles and now at 2.31 and steady. Your new wrangler should be more efficient than the OEM Pirelli due to size alone.

I tested the noise with psi at 47 and 50 today. Only noticeable difference was maybe slightly more noise at 70+mph.

The more I drive, the more I'm focused on it and the more annoying it gets.

I think discount tires have some sort of disatisfy exchange for another brand? If you bought it there

They have a satisfaction guarantee. They're a great shop and customer service is top notch. I am considering going back and swapping them for the original Pirellis. At least I know what to expect. My concern is this noise is going to get louder as the tread wears down.

I'm waiting for @B Digs to come back with more info and see if anyone else chimes in with similar results.

Maybe the noise will improve after 1k miles as well?

@shap @BrianB @emlo
Do any of you guys hear or feel the hum above 50mph?
No, I don’t feel or hear a hum at high speeds. Overall quiet and comfortable at 3700 miles. I’d buy these again if the performance holds up over the miles.

Thank you! I helped design the Goodyear tire specifically for Rivian. I am very happy with the balance of efficiency and all around performance!
So why does Goodyear website still say this isn’t compatible with R1S if this is now an OE option? I tried 2023/24/25. When I try a search for my vehicle it says no options available.

Those Goodyear's have moved to the top of my list. Trying to decide if I want to wait for the option in the gear store or go with something after market.
What is the benefit of waiting for availability in the gear store?

Big company. Just hasn't made it to their configurator yet (the '25s don't show up). Also, the original '22-'24 OE AT tires are 275/65/20 so they may never show up as "compatible" depending on how much their marketing folks dig in with the product people to really understand.

Source: worked at big companies, had trouble getting new products properly listed on websites.

The road noise is a low hum. If you've ever had a truck with all terrain tires, you'll know what I mean. The more aggressive the tread pattern and sidewall, the louder the hum.

I've had the Wranglers for 250 miles now and the hum is not loud, but it is there. The fact that they're pretty dead quiet under 50mph probably makes it even more noticeable once you go over 50mph. If you have music playing at a decent volume, you may not notice it.

I guess this should be expected because the tires are listed as All Terrain. However, the Pirellis are an All Terrain tire as well and there was no noticeable hum when they were brand new.

New set of Pirellis are $1,848 and new Wranglers are $1,044 on TireRack. IMO, the only advantage the Wranglers have so far is the price. Everything else including efficiency seems to be comparable. I haven't take the Wranglers in the snow yet. My expectation is that they will perform similar and the tread life will also be comparable to the 25k I got out of the Pirellis.

So the question for me as well as possibly others, is the cheaper tire worth it? If both tires last only 25k miles which based on my driving equals 24 months, that would be $33.50 more per month for the Pirellis. IMO, if you're paying $80k for a vehicle, $33.50 extra per month is probably worth it to not hear a hum.

I'm still waiting to hear back from @B Digs if Goodyear has any response on my feedback.
The hum and road noise is driving me crazy and my wife hates it on the Pirelli ATs we have currently with 19,238 miles. If the GYs are no quieter I need to start the search all over again. ??

Do a search by the size of tire, not if it fits the vehicle. If I do a search by Rivian with 20" ATs, I only get back about 4 tires. If I do a search by 275/65/20 (original OEM size) I get about 25 hits. If you do a search by 275/60/20 the size of the Goodyear tire, it should show up.

Hi all, @J400, I apologize for the delay. The team continues to investigate. It does seem your experience is isolated as myself and others have not had noise issues.

The Goodyear Rivian tire for Gen 2 is a 275/60R20. Here is a direct link...
https://www.goodyear.com/en_US/tires/wrangler-territory-at/24354-73409564000000.html?back=tireFinder
The web team has been made aware that this image does not show the Rivian specific tire design. Hopefully this will be corrected soon.

I can confirm that the 275/60R20 also fits Gen 1, even though the OE size is 275/65R20. I love the balanced performance the Goodyear tire gives me on my R1T.

Are you still seeing better efficiency numbers AND lower overall noise? I think I read you didn’t keep the Pirelli ATs for long but man they are so loud at 19K miles, it’s terrible.
how many miles you have on them now?

I think it can be also very personal. If you want to get the most quite tires - you may want to look at AS tires only. They will be quieter by definition. I choose GY tires because they are a good compromise between weak (but quiet) AS tires and too aggressive AT (that are very strong, but very noisy).

I do think the 3PMSF rating is attractive as well. We live in the Midwest and have harsh winters. If we can end up better than the stock ATs on most metrics, I think it’s a win. If noise is better, and efficiency is better, I’m sold.

Then I just saw the post on the Nitto Recon Grappler AT 116 275/65/20 and has me thinking again. Would be nice to retain the exact stock size and have no effect on the speedo/range estimates…
