Confirmed that mine was the HVAC. Today marks two weeks it has been at the service center. Supposed to be able to pick it up tomorrow. Awaiting a call from them to arrange and get the full scoop on the repair.

There were no loaners available, but they placed me in a large SUV from Enterprise, which was appreciated. No offset for the gas cost though ;).

We actually have the Chilewich, but my wife (It is her daily) primarily parks in our driveway.

Thanks for the tip on leaving the AC as much as possible. I’m in Seattle so that should be easy this time of year!

Footprints would definitely be harder to spot in the driveway. Once you get it dried out you hopefully won't have any of the mildew smell lingering in the car. Rivian replaced the front carpeting on both sides when they fixed the issue. Good luck!

Update: Rivian reached out to me this morning and wanted me to bring in the R1S the same day. My schedule didn’t work for that so I’m bringing it in first thing tomorrow. Nice to have them be so pro-active!
They must have some flag on issues like this…

You could worry about a lot of things that may never happen. Or, you could enjoy the car. Cheers.

Rivian service tech said they moved up my appointment to ASAP because there are sensitive components around the foot well that are water “resistant” but can’t handle large amounts of standing water. They plan to fix the leak, replace the carpets, and check all of the nearby components ?
In the meantime I have a quad motor R1T for a loaner ?

Good news for all Gen 2 owners… In a surprise turn of events it was determined that the issue was NOT in fact related to the HVAC. The culprit was a faulty seal related to the new wiring harness designthis:

“The lower portion of the firewall grommet on the passenger side was not seated correctly into the retaining bracket. The fix was to install a grommet as intended and sealed the lower portion of the grommet to ensure a proper seal.”

With some rain coming to Florida, we will soon find out if their fix does the job. Hoping it’s resolved.

Unfortunately, the rear AC no longer works after the fix. Going back to the SC to fix this now, which is really frustrating.

Thanks for the update - sorry something broke while your ride was in the service center. Hopefully they'll be able to get the rear A/C fixed quickly.

Getting my R1S back tomorrow. They said the culprit was the drain valve on the HVAC. They replaced that and the carpets. Good as new, I hope! ?

On a similar topic, does anyone with a Gen2 know where the AC condensation is supposed to come out under the car. On my R1S DM STD, it just seems to collect in the underbody panels and only drips out when I am on a slope. I don’t see any obvious drain holes in the shields. The edges of the under panels are wet like water sloshes around until it comes out.

This doesn’t seem normal, but I’ve been to lazy to ask
