The logs will tell you what happened, one way or another.

Could be that Rivian recognizes that their software failed, and are trying to figure out why.

Could also be that the logs definitively show that you were pressing the accelerator at the time, and that's not a pleasant conversation to have because a lot of people are unlikely to accept that information.

Nope! Two people in the car looking at my foot on the break. The car malfunctioned and it’s a safety issue
Not to be that guy, but I've driven alot of miles with alot of people and never had them looking at the position of my feet...

Yes, but we were both scared and she kept telling me to stop. I told her look at my foot it’s on the break!! So yeah she looked at it. There’s no way to power the car down I had no idea what else to do. Hitting the break was the only option

And by the way this was while trying to park my car. So I was not at any speed to begin with!! The whole thing is weird, I get it. But it’s a safety concern. The car malfunctioned plain and simple

So you DID hit the accelerator but you just hit it too hard? This car has 835HP and instantaneous torque. Maybe you should just switch to something not quite as fast? Yeah I would say sudden launch speed acceleration when you're pulling into a parking spot would be an issue, which is why I don't mash the throttle when pulling into a sparking spot. You obviously did push "that hard" because the truck surged forward.
like you were there? you have no idea how hard or soft he hit the accelerator. s/w and h/w can fail or have errors.

about a week ago for no reason, my regen failed to work/slow down my vehicle. i was at 50% state of charge, high regen, it was inexplicable. i used the friction brake to come to a stop. hasn't happened again since.

That sounds scary. And I know hindsight is 20/20, but there is an emergency stop that gets applied by holding the button on the end of the right stalk.

@lorenaferry were you touching the stalk at all? I've found myself switching gears at low speeds as parking and sometimes thinking "did I already hit that? Better not try again, don't want to cruise control into this spot."

Thank you that is actually a helpful comment. I will look into it once I get my car back.

At one point I was. I moved forward then I was trying to back into the parking spot.
