Ok so.... We know that charger will be plug and charged and billed through Rivian account.... But ... For those that will be utilizing the TSC frequently:

1) will Rivian get Member pricing?

2) If not, how would it work to sign up for the Tesla membership?

The membership gives the same pricing as Tesla owners.

Reportedly using plug and charge is the non-member rate, even if you had a tesla membership. You'll have to initiate the charge from the Tesla app to get your membership rate. I'm guessing Tesla won't reconsider this behavior because using the Tesla app de-anonymizes you.

Looking at the closest NACS available charger to me, I see these rates in the Rivian app:
Rivian R1T R1S Tesla Supercharger Pricing -- Per Kwh Cost for Rivian 1710854295894-ji

And these in the Tesla app:
Rivian R1T R1S Tesla Supercharger Pricing -- Per Kwh Cost for Rivian 1710854313017-7

One thing that may be an issue Rivian has not figured out, is how to turn off P&C. In my Mache E you can turn off P&C, then use either EA or Tesla app to get a membership discount. There is also a way on EA, to swipe the EA app first, then plug in and you will get the EA member price, because the charger will not look for P&C. Seems like that should work for Tesla also, but have not tried it.

When you use P&C the billing is directly via an OEM account, with no specific car data used to determine if you have a membership.

If I recall correctly, the video that Snazzy Labs posted on Twitter/Threads mentioned that if you initiate the charge via the Tesla app first for a specific stall before plugging in, and then plug in, you can still get your membership discount and it overrides plug and charge. Sounds like it takes a little longer to actually start the charge once plugged in though, like 30-40 seconds, instead of 5-10, but thats NBD.

yeah, the membership rates near me are only 3 cents per kWh, not really worth it.

I will try that tomorrow. Today I plugged in and then selected the charger and started it on Tesla. I got an error message on the app however my charging session had started despite what the app reflected AND it was non member fee billed via Rivian.

Start charge in tesla app before you plug in and plug in when it tells you to. Otherwise if you plug in first it's a Rivian based non member charge.

Why do some SC stations not show up when my Rivian is the selected vehicle in the Tesla App? I assume it means that SC is not compatible with my vehicle, but why not?

I always assume it is version 2 of the Tesla chargers which are not compatible. Only version 3 & 4 are compatible. Like others have said to get the Tesla pricing (16 cent discount in my area) you use Tesla app and then plug in when it tells you too. It isn't hard.

The v2/v3 comment above is accurate. This is due to hardware limitations in the older equipment.

Also, “none” of the mixed v2/v3 sites are available to non-Tesla vehicles. I think I came across one, but technically, it was two independent sites on opposite sides of the building in the same parking lot.

Also, not all v3/v4 sites are available. This is possibly for the really busy sites or maybe just because Tesla feels like it.

At the time the network was opened up, about half of the total sites were made available. Almost all of the sites installed since then have been opened to Rivian and other manufacturers.

There are a LOT of V3 that are not open to CCS vehicles. It's not just for the "really busy" sites. That's easily disproven - I drive by a lot of basically-unused V3 Tesla chargers every day that have not been opened. I'm sure Tesla has some reaons for their choices, but they're not telling us what those reasons are.

Tesla membership pricing is typically 20% less for me. I plan on purchasing it on as a needed basis for road trips. For me ABRP typically suggests Tesla Superchargers vs others.

+1 on this. Break even point for me is about 1 and a bit of a full charge (146KW), so a 6+ hour roadtrip and stay is a month of membership purchased.
