Does the RAN price increase mean Rivian will open RAN to non-Rivian vehicles s00n?

Some went up, some went down. One of the locations we frequent (Happy Valley, OR) went down to $0.30 per kWh

I would not be against paying a small monthly fee to option a lower per KW rate.
Rivian should absolutely offer this when they open the RAN to other OEM’s.
How about lower price for connect+ subscribers.

I just charged at the Corte Madera RAN and the cost was 52 cents per kWh, up from 36 cents just last. Has Rivian quietly imposed a >40% price increase?
That’s really unfortunate. Now charging everywhere in the public is too expensive.

I told them there’s no convenience issue, but the lack of communication about this is a little sketchy.
When you drove and owned nothing but gas burning vehicles, did you get irate and demand better communication when all of the gas stations you could possibly have used failed to email or text you ahead of price increases?

Highly illogical.

Irate? Can you read?

One more for the ignore list.

(By the way, gas stations post their prices in huge letters by the street, so you should come up with a better comparison for your trolling)

Looks like I really got in in the nick of time. I charged at the Corte Madera RAN Sunday night the 17th at $0.36.

The cost of EV fast charging has gone up at most places I have used. Even Tesla has jacked up the price of supercharging by $0.05/kWh since I checked last.

Calculations are not wrong. As I have said many times, the cost of EV fast charging (outside your home) is one of the biggest state-sanctioned SCAMs perpetrated on EV owners.

Just for reference, take even your "cheap" $0.36/kWh. Were you to fully charge a Rivian (135 kWh large battery pack), it would cost you $48.60. Compare that to gasoline. A Rivian large battery pack has the energy equivalent of 4 gallons of gas. Divide $48.60 by 4=$12.13 per gallon of gasoline equivalent.

Another example: take EA chargers at 3555 Mullan Rd, Missoula, MT 59808 @ $0.64/kWh. In terms of energy equivalent to gasoline again, an ICE owner would have to pay $21.56 per gallon of gas.

Imagine, just imagine the outrage, the revolt if gas stations selling gas at $12 per gallon; never mind $21. Not even in the far reaches of AK do ICE drivers pay that kind of money for gas.

So it comes down to how much scam EV owners want to accept. Reason why I charge at RAN and Tesla chargers only and avoid all the other far more outrageous charging networks. So very glad that the vast majority of my charging takes place at home at less than $0.07/kWh.

Your comparison of the energy density of the battery pack vs. gasoline is quite disingenuous. Just because a gallon of gasoline contains a certain amount of energy does not mean that an internal combustion engine can extract all of that energy from the gasoline and use it towards propelling the vehicle.

And here is a sobering thought for EV owners. Forget electricity and gasoline. Instead, compare the two in apples-to-apples fashion. That is, compare both in terms of energy.
In my neck of the woods, the average price of gasoline is $4.60. This means that ICE drivers pay on average $0.136 per kWh of energy (liquid kWh).

When was the last time you found a fast charger costing anywhere near that?
The nearest Tesla supercharger costs @0.60/kWh.

My god, you are getting lost deep in the weeds!!!!!
That the ICE is one of the most inefficient engines ever conceived (and efficiency never was a goal behind ICE design) is beside the point. EVs are not 100% efficient you know, or as you put it, EVs cannot extract all that energy from the pack and turn it into motion, either. EVs just aren't so grossly inefficient as ICE.

Send an SOS to somebody to come rescue you from the deep weeds you are in, please.

And the scam prices of fast charging are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
Sure, we all have to pay for the maintenance of the roads we use, 100% aboslutely fair.
But because EVs are now the new cash cows for state politicians, the fair-use tax for EVs comes in the way of entirely capricious and arbitrary hefty fees tacked on during registration renewals.

In my neck of the woods, I pay over $200 in additional vehicle registration fees for each of my EVs. It does not matter how little or how much I drive my EVs. Indeed, I am getting ready to mothball and send into hibernation until at least May two of my EVs. I am not holding my breath thinking that the state here will refund me 6 months worth of EV registration fees for each of my two EVs not using the roads during that time, LOL. And my EV registration feeds also include a tax for EV "charging infrastructure"!

I do not recall ever paying an ICE registration fee for gas station infrastructure.
Absolutely a total scam, and it will get worse.

Let me tell you how it will be

Yeah, I'm the taxman...
