My "go to" RAN charger in Cookeville, TN just went to $0.46 from $0.36. Most Tesla chargers around here appear to be $0.51 according to the Rivian app, so whenever I get my adapter, I may be inclined use a supercharger if it's in a more convenient location...

Out west in the boonies, yes. Glad they are there for those that need them but nothing on the 95/64 corridor south of Jersey along the east coast until Florida
Fredericksburg is not in the Boonies. Why are you showing such contempt for the rural, more picturesque places???

Remember that the default price you see in the Tesla app is the non-discounted price. If you pay the $12.99/mo fee, you get the discounted price, generally something along the lines of $0.11/kWh of a discount. I have the Tesla subscription active on my account because I did a trip on Halloween, but have already cancelled the renewal for later this month.

I see the price at both Tesla stations in Crossville, TN listed as $0.39/kWh. Normally, the math on the Tesla stations is you would do that if you needed to consume about 120 kWh in the month. That comes from a $0.11/kWh discount and a $12.99/mo fee. $12.99/mo divided by $0.11/kWh yields a breakeven point of 118 kWh/mo. If you are comparing it to charging at nearby RAN stations priced at $0.46/kWh, the breakeven point is 186 kWh/mo on the $12.99/mo cost being "worth it". This ignores the convenience of plug-and-charge vs initiating the session from the Tesla app to get the discount and also the slight hassle of using the adapter.

Fredericksburg isn’t up yet - glad they finally are building there.

There is no contempt, and congrats to the folks traveling that corridor that they have RAN available there. Just conveying that on this coast Rivian has been painfully slow building RAN - especially in a high travel area.

The cost of EV fast charging has gone up at most places I have used. Even Tesla has jacked up the price of supercharging by $0.05/kWh since I checked last.

Calculations are not wrong. As I have said many times, the cost of EV fast charging (outside your home) is one of the biggest state-sanctioned SCAMs perpetrated on EV owners.

Just for reference, take even your "cheap" $0.36/kWh. Were you to fully charge a Rivian (135 kWh large battery pack), it would cost you $48.60. Compare that to gasoline. A Rivian large battery pack has the energy equivalent of 4 gallons of gas. Divide $48.60 by 4=$12.13 per gallon of gasoline equivalent.

Another example: take EA chargers at 3555 Mullan Rd, Missoula, MT 59808 @ $0.64/kWh. In terms of energy equivalent to gasoline again, an ICE owner would have to pay $21.56 per gallon of gas.

Imagine, just imagine the outrage, the revolt if gas stations selling gas at $12 per gallon; never mind $21. Not even in the far reaches of AK do ICE drivers pay that kind of money for gas.

So it comes down to how much scam EV owners want to accept. Reason why I charge at RAN and Tesla chargers only and avoid all the other far more outrageous charging networks. So very glad that the vast majority of my charging takes place at home at less than $0.07/kWh.

One glaring omission in this logic is that when on a road trip, very few ICE drivers only purchase 4 gallons of gas at a time, much less 4 gallons of gas to drive 200ish miles. I just completed a round trip from the SF Bay Area up to Seattle and back on Saturday and the total cost of electricity for that trip $316.76 for a total of 1900 miles and I have Quad on AT Pirelli tires (so the least efficient out there stock). The last time I was road tripping in an ICE car and a tank to drive about 350 miles was $125. The last time I did that road trip in my old SUV that got about 22MPG, the price was closer to $500 for Dino juice.

As they like to say, your mileage may vary, but that's my personal and recent experience.

It looks as quite a few folks are just hung up on efficiency of EVs. They can go farther on the same energy amount; therefore, penalize the efficiency by forcing EV owners to pay extortion prices for energy.

Kwh for kWh, electricity vs. gasoline, EV drivers are outrageously scammed.
A Prius can go farther on the same amount of gasoline than most other ICE vehicles. Consequently, Prius owners should pay a lot more for gasoline. Yet they do not. Such is this hopelessly twisted logic of many.

Another perspective: gasoline is heavily subsidized in the US. Gasoline is significantly more expensive in Europe.

The rate at the Cookeville, TN RAN station went up again: it's now $0.50/kWh. Up from $0.46/kWh, which is up from $0.36/kWh in less than a month. Bummer.
