At what point in the future should users expect the processing hardware of a current vehicle to be too slow to run interface and other vehicle updates smoothly? Generally, over the years phones and computers slow down as more robust OS and APPS are released. Users trade in their phones and upgrade their computers regularly to accommodate. Will this also the case with a Rivian vehicle?

Will they make a field-replaceable module to upgrade 4G vehicles to 5G? Eventually we have to face that one is going to be phased out, I'd gladly pay for faster speed now.

In a serious infotainment question - when are they going to fix the broken FM/HD Radio thumbnail?
artifact.)

+1 thank you for mentioning this. Mine stopped displaying the station logo around May 2023. Prior to that it worked. I know it's Morse code for "keep the world adventurous" or whatever, but seriously. How hard can it be to fix this? It looks dumb. ?

Rather the just asking for features/ETA I think it would be more interesting to hear about the reasoning behind some of the gaps or quirks. I assume that there are reasons. I would love to know what they are.

A few examples.

Why is the drivers screen dominated by a seemingly useless animation of the car? Does someone think it actually provides value? If so, what?

Why mapbox instead of Google or Apple?

Why did it take so long to add the 3rd temperature zone for the 2nd row? It must have been more complicated than it seems, but what exactly was the challenge?

Why is there an option to show incompatible chargers? When would someone want to use that option?

I don't really care if you use my examples, but hope that there is some discussion about why things are the way they are.

I never even thought to think it was intentional! I assumed it was a graphical glitch trying to show the station ID or something. Yeah. Now that I look I see the Morse, but it’s been like that for two(ish) years, and I and every passenger who saw it thought it was a glitch. At least stick SOMETHING there to make it clear it’s not a glitch.

The title says it all, folks! Rivian has invited me to moderate a Q&A fireside chat with Wassym Bensaid this Wednesday, November 20th, at their Cars & Coffee event at the LA Auto Show. I'm here to ask for questions you have that you'd like me to ask!

Got questions you'd like me to ask? Wassym is an open book on most topics, so feel free to ask about the R1 lineup, the upcoming R2/R3 platforms, or Rivian’s past and future plans. While I can’t guarantee an answer to anything, I’ve been told I can ask just about everything!

Please upvote the questions you’d most like answered with the "? Like" reaction so I can prioritize our limited time together.

Signups for the event have closed, but I’m working with Rivian the best I can to ensure there’s some form of a recording available for those who can’t attend.

Alright, enough talking... ask away!
What plans do you have for:
1. Green light chime
2. PIN to drive
3. Auto cancel turn signal on lane change completion
4. Cabin overheat protection
5. Climate keep mode; distinct from pet comfort mode

So many these little daily usability functions Tesla has already implemented has me convinced Rivian is not it until it matures

Always find these comparisons funny. Tesla took a long time before they added any of those functions.

It took Tesla like 7 years to add Apple Music.

Rivian isn't Tesla. I wish people would stop requesting they add every single thing Tesla adds whether it's useful or not.

I haven’t seen this requested, but any info on trims or when we may find out about trims for R2 would be great! Really hoping for a R2X of some sort.

Why don't we have departure charging and when will we get it? I am asking about setting departure time then the car figures out when to start charging based on SOC.

Still not really an excuse for a “software defined vehicle” in model year 2025.

And Rivian was founded in 2009, a year after the release of the Tesla Roadster.

100% this. I'm desperate for a way to stop doing updates regularly, it seems every other update something goes wrong where i have to bring my vehicle back to the SC. I'd like to see a more thorough S/W release program personally.
Building on this: Would Rivian consider bringing in (more) community help to beta test releases? It could even be an application-based role, not totally open (since the word "beta" has lost it's meaning to the general public).
