Proximity feature for liftgate and frunk?

Proximity feature question on 2025 gen2 R1S.
As I walk up to the car and the door unlocks and the driver handle presents. but as I go to press the mechanical button under the hood or trunk to open the liftgate or frunk it does not work/respond. Is this normal behavior? Thank you.

Not normal. Try both resets.

Did a full reset. Still same behavior. I assume your frunk and lift gates buttons work when you approach the car. Such as coming out of the grocery store with your hands full of bags to place in the frunk? I have an appt with the service center mid December. Have created a list of things to check out. Thanks for the response.

I have my PaaK setup so when I take the phone out, it will unlock everything (not open the frunk, gear tunnel, truck gate), but if I walk up to the truck with my phone in my pocket, it sometimes won't unlock until I have it in my hand. Don't know if it is a bug.......doesn't me as much as it is annoying.

G1 works where when you walk up and it unlocks then the frunk and tailgate both can be open with the buttons on the vehicle.

Our PAAK function on Opal (our R1T) has always been hit or miss. For the most part, Opal opens for me half way across the garage, about 30' from the truck. On the other hand, SuEllyn has to go right up to Opal and put her back pocket up against the door to get her to unlock. We can not see why this happens as we are both using the exact same model Android smartphone.

If pressing the frunk or liftgate button twice doesn't work for you, try holding the button for about 2 seconds - that always works for us. I also have a shortcut on my iPhone to open the frunk that I put on my watch and I use it all of the time. As I walk out of the grocery store towards my R1S, (which, obviously, is parked all by itself in the far reaches of the lot) I activate the shortcut on my watch and the frunk is open when I get there.

Hello all. Thanks for the help. I found out the frunk and liftgate buttons do not work since I only have the “driver door only” on proximity and not “all doors” unlock.

I find that opening the rear takes a few pushes when the car has been sleeping.

Tesla was able to add a proximity auto-open to the trunk and frunk to its cars equipped with UWB, provided your phone also had UWB. I wonder if this could come to Gen 2 down the line as it supports ultrawide band.
