I used to do the wink but nobody and never have seen one initiates or responded to it then I move on to the wave and I get about 50-50.
*Blink= a quick tap on the left turn blinker.

I like that idea but turn signal functionality is so flaky I don't think I'd be able to pull it off. I still discover I have a turn signal on after a lane change 3 minute later!

I catch myself waving to Rivians and Minis when I'm in my "non" vehicle (a diesel VW Golf). I guess it's no harm, but I've probably baffled some people!

I was in a Quiktrip convenience store the other day when someone drove up in an R1T. I wanted to go say "hi" to the guy, but I was so embarrassed to be caught without my Rivian that I just let it slide.

I used to do the same thing, but the blind spot monitor on the driver's screen has saved me! At least I notice it a lot sooner than I used to...

If you are in an R1T or an R1S and happen to see a silver R1S with Nevada plates with a mom and her little dudes waving at you, please consider waving back. My 4 and 8-year-old boys are in love with our Rivian and are so eager to make this a “Rivian thing.” Gotta love ‘em! See you on the road ??

Myself and my kids still enthusiastically wave to all other Rivians even after nearly 3 years! We definitely get some strange reactions from people....

I'm in the SF Bay Area and still wave at any Rivian I see, mainly just to bug my wife and sons, as they hate when I do it (why, I say with a smile..I'm just being friendly!). I'd say I'm only getting waves back maybe a quarter of the time.

Really folks? If you are too cool or shy to wave, just realize that in that moment, the only person looking at you is in the other Rivian.
I always wave, 25% response back in CO.

Just my take - does either vehicle have full tint?
If so, either party may not be able to see the party
If the front doors have any and the ceiling glass has a shield - I know I can't see the other driver unless the light is just right

I don't even bother with R1S drivers. 95% of the time they don't wave back. In the early days every single R1T driver would wave back but thats also fizzled and I get a wave back about half the time.

Still get about a 75-80% wave back rate in MA and New England, in general.

Waving makes me happy. When others wave back, that's a bonus.

My bias is that I grew up in what was then a small farming community, where waving to EVERYONE was the polite thing to do.

In this troubled world, it's a small nice thing to acknowledge each other.
