Woke up it's been at 1kw. I stopped the charging and tried to start... And it's back to 2.7 kw. It did spike to 11kwh for one ten min slice at 3:29 am

What % was your battery at when charging at these rates? Your experience roughly matches what I and a few others have been seeing with our gen2 max packs at >~80% charge. Its too early to tell conclusively from what folks have posted and I’m away for the next week, but I‘m now suspecting Rivian have done some really funky stuff with the gen2 BMS and the Max pack battery.
It was just over 80%. You and some others have been seeing the same thing? That theory sounds plausible. My charging was going fine before I started at over 80%.

Last night I've gained 58 miles in 8 hrs. As much as I love it maybe I should return it while I still had it less than a week.

Though this thread may be a better one to continue in. What battery do you have?

You mention the ambient temp is 20 F, but what about the battery temp itself? That is displayed on some (all?) of the drive mode screens.

Edit: the link in the previous page mentions a software update that talks about slow charging on Large+ batteries when selecting 100% - gives the LFP battery time to calibrate…

L2 is sometimes slower while its warming the battery at those temps, but we're not talking hours.
It should still pull around 11kW whether the charger use the power to warm-up the pack or to charge it.

The vehicle won't display it though, it's only showing what's making it to the battery. I don't know if Tesla shows what is being dispensed on their end.

Do you have access to a CCS charger anywhere around you? The DC charging is different from the AC charging, you might want to test the DC charging, especially if that is what you are doing on the trip.

Second thing to test if you have access to a NEMA 14/50 outlet is plug in you portable charger and see what that is giving you.
I don't know NEMA 14/50 is but I'll look it up and try. I also have a friend with a Tesla charger I'll try there also thank you.

I didn't see battery temp anywhere but I did see that it's at 48amps.

Also for someone who asked, I have the max pack. This is the first time I've tried charging starting over 80%, and first time to 100%. Basically the second time charging

Not on my R1T Quad (Gen 1). I see the full 11kW power even when it is warming up the pack. It can start charging at 8km/h for example and increase the charging to 37km/h when the pack is warmed-up and showing the full 11kW on my phone App all along.

This sounds like the exact same thing I’ve seen with the gen2 max pack - in conditions (~60f), and equipment (multiple Wallbox pulsars and a Rivian branded evs), that should effectively rule out any environmental or evse specific reasons for massively reduced charging rate at above 80% charge. This is also not what gen1 rivians do - we have had two of them, and still have a gen1 with large battery pack that we can do some empirical charging comparison between and the gen2 max pack.

Final tally: 66 miles in a little over 11.5 hrs. Interestingly enough I started heating the cabin at the end and it bumped up to 6.7kw. It implies that there is a software issue on the rivian side. The drive took more battery than expected, so I'll be finding out soon if it's just over 80% that it happens. Thanks everyone for your input!

First thing first is should do a hard reset and see that would help. Do you know anyone that have a diff adapter since this one works with your tesla flawlessly. Adapter maybe the issue

I can try a hard reset, that's a good idea thanks. I don't know anyone with an adapter unfortunately. But when I get home I will try charging again, under 80 and over 80.
I'm going to charge on my way home also and pray it goes at decent rate.
What do you all who are experiencing this issue doing to deal with it?

Hard reset fix majority of issues. Hope this is the case for you.
