12 Volt Battery Warranty

We have a 2023 R1T that we have had since new. We have had it for 22 months and it currently has 12,000 miles on it. In August of 2024, the 12volt battery was replaced by mobile service, after receiving the "12 volt" warning. What is the warranty (if any) on the replacement 12 volt battery?

I think you need to check with Rivian and get the replacement battery warranty limitations in writing from Rivian. As many of us have no doubt experienced over years of automobile ownership.. no-charge replacement parts/components in most cases pick up the remaining warranty of the part/component they replaced. They could also have an arbitrary period like 1 Year for a specific item like a battery? There is just no way to know until you get the info straight from the source.

Opal's original 12 volt battery lasted lasted 15 months. If the replacement battery follows suit, I can squeeze one more out before the 36 months are gone.

Maybe by that time, I can buy a replacement battery from the Rivian Parts Depot, and install it myself with a "how to" video provided by Rivian.

They must have some issues with the 12v battery, I have 2023 that I received in September, and I got a call last month saying they wanted to replace my 12v battery and do some other things to my truck, even though I have not seen any issues with it. They are going to replace it this Friday.

FWIW, I recently had my 12v battery replaced. It appeared to be an identical battery to the replacement. I had no issues with it prior to the replacement. The mobile tech who replaced my battery told me the issue was not with the batteries, but with the BMS. I would like to think, if this is the case, that whatever issues the BMS was having have been rectified. But, who knows?

If it is the battery management system, I would hope that Rivian has addressed this issue in one of the updates.

It’s really amazing that this vehicle has been designed for seven years now, and new ones are still bricking due to 12V battery issues. I don’t trust the replacement batteries either given the chintzy warranty.

Same here. Just took my R1S for a window replacement and was told they'd be replacing the 12v battery.

My 12V battery warning showed up two weeks shy of the one-year ownership anniversary and mobile service replaced it. The date code on the original was 2022, so the battery was already two years old before the truck ever hit the road.

Sadly and I hope unrelated, my rear drive unit crapped out the night before mobile service was scheduled. The mobile tech tried recalibrating the rear drive to no avail. I drop the truck off at South San Francisco tomorrow. The crap-out was just a very slight nudge during acceleration followed by the yellow turtle and limited performance warnings. There was no mechanical noise. I now have a front-wheel-drive truck. Ugh!
