This looks lovely! Have you used anything else besides the Autel? I'm awaiting my Rivian pick up and doing a deep dive into charging situations. I don't think I can hardwire because I'm moving from this house in a few months and it's probably not worth the cost. Looking for a good/mobile solution and I've had my eyes on this and the Chargepoint. Any insight is appreciated.
insights but I am very happy with my decision. I shopped for about a month while awaiting delivery of my R1S. Primary factor was the reviews of this units. Outdoor durability mentioned many places also on the YouTube channel SOC. I didn’t really want to use the cable under the garage door method. If you are looking at the hotel, check their website cause I got $100 discount directly from them versus what they had listed on Amazon.

To create a temporary charging setup, this typically involves the same amount of work as a permanent install (NEMA 14-50 vs. hardwire). Both will require a new circuit breaker and wiring to either unit. Depending on the breaker location and space available, the NEMA 14-50 (cheaper) would stay with the property, whereas the hardwire install would have you removing the unit and taking it to the next location. There are a ton of factors to consider in this scenario, but both require some coin.

After almost a year and half of ownership and cheating my R1T, I'm moving to a house without a garage. While the garage build is in the future (over a year away from that), I will be needing to set up a charging solution outdoors. I was previously charging in my garage with the Rivian home charger, and now will need to set up outdoors. Curious on others experience with the Rivian charger set up outdoors how it has held up. Iay e hooked it up to the charger once or twice a week at home.

I'm also debating setting up a plug for the travel charger instead of the hardwired, as we'll be moving the driveway to the other side of the house within the next year. Just like looking to the community answers/experience in this subject.

Also, secret work installation. Cleaned it up the next day to the bottom pictures so I wasn't running a cord across a room and parking next to a window on the grass. Holding strong after a year and $100.

No issues with mine outside for about 2 years. Mounted on the side of the workshop. It was mounted on the opposite side of the prevalent incoming weather direction. You could build a "lean-to" over the box - see pic of wife's tesla charger mounted at a pergola.

Rivian charger shared between my wife’s Polestar 2 and my R1T. Currently adding 30 mph to my R1T. The best part is the solar on the roof feeding the charger!
Getting excited for my R1S and it will be the first EV I have. I'm torn on if I should hardwire (for max amps) a charger in the garage or outside around the corner. It really depends on if the R1S will fit in my garage or not.

Anyway, I tend to have a lot of outdoor tools lining the sides of my garage and a large wood set of shelves in the back so looking for inspiration on clean installs for charges in the garage and thought it would be great to have a compilation of them here. Doesn't matter if it is the rivian charger, plug in, hard wired, etc.

To this day, this is still my favorite setup.
Had an electrician over today doing some service panel upgrades. My custom Dino Electric pump is now in service! This project has taken nearly as long as I've been waiting for my R1T.

Its a 1940's Bowser & Co. gas pump (restored in Dino apparel) with a 40A Level 2 charger and customized plug / handle. The pump handle actuates the J-1772 latch when attached to the vehicle. So pulling up on the trigger is actually functional! Love that.

A few minor changes still to do. Going to swap out the signage to say "Dino Electric". Planning to change the "Ethyl" vinyl to something else as well. Any ideas?

For now, its charging my BMW i3S.

Rigged my ChargePoint up to install on my slatwall without having to drill through it. I also wanted something that wasn't permanently hardwired because I have commitment issues. Funny thing is, I bought it and got it installed in January of '21 because we were supposed to get our R1S that year (HA!). Fortunately, that also meant I got the tax rebate which expired 1 January of this year.

However, ChargePoint kept sending me emails saying, "you haven't charged anything yet, do you need tech support?" I started feeling insulted, so I somehow maneuvered myself into getting a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and a stern admonition from the wife: "how did we order an EV for me, install a charger for it, and then you get an EV before I get mine?!" I tried to tell her she could have the Ioniq 5 now and the R1S will be mine when it gets here... that did not work.

would you mind showing me more of this mount? i'm going to do a proslat wall soon, and my biggest issue right now is figuring out how to mount my CP flex w/o drilling into the slats
