REALLY?
This is like scratching your left ear with your right foot.
Just get a rear seat cargo cover& dog deck

https://evsportline.com/products/ri...VzSp6UyfyBQlkYdsMAjrQaxOf2Ryjsv--gVQDBWfDMeLT

And an Amazon seat cover

https://www.amazon.com/Kytely-Water...i=B07LBL1NDB&ref_=pd_basp_d_rpt_ba_s_1_t&th=1

AND YOU ARE DONE!

lower entry so the dog doesn't need to jump up high.
Remove in seconds and have a clean back seat for passengers

my rotties have hip displasia and your set up will be much easier for them to get in and out. woody and irma are 120 pounders and lifting their butts in and out is taking its toll on my ancient back. thank you!

Here's our solution. We put the flip the seats up and place the Thunderbolt Under-Seat Storage Cover over the black hole. Insert the bamboo braces so that the seats stay up when we speed up quickly. Then we put a packing blanket over the top. Keeps her contained. We do also have a seatbelt for her (not shown).

I like this set up. Have a 14 y/o Lab and I went with a Lightning instead of an R1T cause of him. I think the way the F150 seat flips up to the back and there is a large, flat floor for him works best. I so wanted the R1T to work....

I've been through multiple hammocks - the first one went in the trash at a rest stop after an uncontrolled explosive incident.. The second one worked okay, the stitching failed quickly but, I didn't really have a lot of options due to the need for urgent replacement following said explosive incident.

The third one has been great for almost 18 months, it was from Orvis and has held up to daily use like a champ.

We have the seat cover and 'seat extenders' from Orvis.

Old Man Charlie loves it.

Since we have added a human baby to the mix, we just roll over some of the cover to make room for the car seat, Prince Charles still gets the other 2/3rds of the seat.

I would like to figure something out, I like the thunderbolt platform and a blanket, need to keep the rear passenger side down for my daughter and her booster seat. Bella loves car rides though

Also available instead of the seat cover or for more cushion underneath the cover/over the pet bed. Your method is great for seat and seat protection.

Cool approach to limit access and contain your pet. We have smaller dogs and use an Amazon hammock setup with two dog "chairs" that dogs sit in, with harnesses on and fastened to LATCH connectors. It's pretty fast to take in and out, but dog hair proves that entropy exists and gets everywhere eventually. One dog can jump right in, the other has to be picked up and placed in the chair. Dogs can lie down in chairs when they get bored and hammock has mesh for Dog Mode climate control vents.

Which hammock did you buy for your setup? I like the additional door protectors with the 90 degree inserts for the door trim...

I do love how every thread about Rivians/ dogs turns into a very long photo album. ?
Ok, here ya go. My Great Pyranese mix and our daughter's megamix in the back of the R1S. Picture was taken at a stopped traffic light., no distracted driving.

So is the crate to protect Pepper or does she like the confinement? Our 65lb lab Poppy rides in a $20 sling from Costco and we clip her in on her harness. She has done 900 mile days in our R1S and just sleeps. She love getting out for some exploring at the charging stops. I applied some black vinyl wrap on the door sills to keep her from scratching the paint.

I think the crate offers some protection, but not a great deal of it. It chiefly serves three purposes:

+ it keeps the hair confined to her crate so the cabin doesn't feel too "doggy" (when I need to, I can break down the crate and put it away and you'd never know a dog goes with me everywhere in the world)

+ it keeps Pepper from exploring the cabin when she's alone -- this one is huge for me

+ it offers her a safe space to just chill and she welcomes it. Sometimes when the truck is in the driveway at home and we aren't going anywhere, she'll sit, stand, or lay down next to her back door and want me to put her inside so she can just chill in there while I work on a house project, etc. She really does love being in her crate in the truck (picture of her waiting on the driveway below).

I did the math and she has done just over 20,000 miles in the Rivian crate system and it's been great. Two Canadian provinces and seven western states -- not bad for a dog that can't even drive.
