Was there a change in version numbers? Mine updated to 2025.18.30 last night. Not 2025.18.1
You must have a 2025/Gen 2 model. Their updates end with a .30. 2022-2024/Gen 1 models end with .1.

It's "meh" excepting potential bug fixes and the new ability to manually precondition for fast charging (that's a good, long awaited item). They overthought the multi-factor drive to the point where the overwhelming majority of people probably won't bother....they should have just added a simple PIN to drive similar to Tesla.
I'm glad CarPlay works now ....

Agreed, unless they change the charging curve, I don't care how cute they make the charging graphics when it's not an efficient vehicle and slow at DCFC. The average person doesn't care about all that information and just wants to get from point a to point b. On-demand battery preconditioning is pretty cool but the average person that they sell to now will never use that either.

I mean, they explicitly said that charging should be faster on max packs, and that the change was due to improved thermal management. Keeping the battery cooler allows faster charging, thus changing the charge curve.

As far as MFA: security is inherently inconvenient. That’s kinda the point. Everyone has to make their own decisions about what precautions they want to take based on their own situation and perceived threat surface.

Push received yesterday afternoon. Downloaded lasting using my phone as hotspot, since there is no WiFi where I park. Once again there was the prompt to update the fob, but once I brought it no trace of update it on screen. Annoying. Is this meant for g2 and is somehow glitching through on my g1?

Well you’re gonna miss out on CarPlay, then
Let me run out and buy a iPhone. 😂🍎🍅🍉🍑🍌🍆

So the MFA works by unlocking the car with your phone and then pressing a button on the phone to start driving? The same phone that just unlocked the car? The key card by itself won't allow the car to drive?

I am convinced that most of the people on Rivian's software team don't drive an EV.

This new drive energy graph is totally useless. Unless you are driving exactly 60mph, no one cares how much energy you are using per minute. The X axis needs to be distance, not time.

Dear Rivian Software Team,

The only time we need to think about the energy consumption is when we are on a road trip and are trying to figure out if we have enough charge to get to the next charger. If the charger is 200 miles away, help me figure out if I am going to make it, or if I need to make an alternative plan.

If for example there were rated miles consumed on the Y axis and actual miles driven on the Y, when I see I am using 1.5 rated miles to travel one actual mile I can easily multiply the distance to the charger by 1.5 and know if the guage says I have that much then I am going to make it.

It doesn't have to be exactly that graph, but it should help me answer that question. What were you thinking anyone was going to do with kwh per minute?

Also if you really want to show us the historical power, could you at least use a sane unit?. What were you thinking when you chose kWh/min over the much simpler and more standard unit of kW?
I agree. I would add that the preconditioning of the battery pack new feature is useless (at least for my needs) as you have to be in your truck to start it. No way to do it from your phone app when you just want to warm-up the pack before driving during cold winter time with the truck still plugged to your home charger. Why add this feature if the truck will do it anyway when you are on your way to a fast charger ???

Scheduled cabin conditioning preconditions the battery in your example.

If you set a climate departure time and are plugged in it will already warm the pack to around 50F in the winter. While warmer might be nice, that's already a big improvement over having a frozen pack and it's been implemented for quite some time now.

And as has been mentioned elsewhere, not all DC chargers are in the nav. This new features allows folks to precondition for fast charging when they know they're headed to a charger they can't navigate to. Big deal when optimal DC charging temps are in the mid-70s and it charges significantly slower below that.

In case anyone has the issue. Update showed up in my car but was not downloading and said ‘Paused’. I was on full bar wifi next to the router at home. Was hesitant of doing a reset, fearing loosing the update altogether. Called support and they advised doing a hard reset, which I did and boom, the download restarted and completed.

The download and install seemed a bit faster. I did not time it exactly but it wasn’t 50 mins, more like 35.

Also, I noticed when I open the mobile app and close it I no longer receive this popup. I think this started before the update.

Rivian R1T R1S 2025.18.01 installing! Have you received the update? IMG_0897

It will only warm the pack in a scheduled defrost when plugged on your charger if it brings the SOC below the selected % which can take half an hour if you are already charged. The pack WILL NOT be warmed up unless the truck is charging and consequently you will use range to bring it to the 50F required for driving.
