For those deep in the Comma community: has there ever been talk of a device that either integrates better behind the mirror (like a FitCamX) or uses the vehicle cameras to not require windshield mount at all?

I’d love to have actually-useful ADAS but I can’t stand having a big device hanging from the windshield partially blocking visibility.

Last question and I appreciate your time answering. When only using the comma harness/rivian longitudinal control, are you able to actively adjust the max speed without disengaging? Or are you locked in at the max speed when you activate openpilot?

The Rivian's ACC works normally so you can adjust speed just like you would normally. In the configuration you describe, the only thing the Comma is controlling is steering.

Sure, there's been talk about that ever since the Comma came on the scene but there's no desire from Comma to build such a device. I have seen someone review a device like that on YouTube but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called.

In terms of visibility I haven't found that to be a problem at all, especially since the display on the windshield shows you what's going on outside the windshield.

I second the view non issue. I was not looking forward to losing the windshield real estate, but after having it in there for a while now, it really isn't an issue where it's located.

Yeah in the same boat, was going to pull the trigger tonight. Odd to have a countdown banner and then have it end randomly.

Same here. Been busy with the holiday weekend but looked at a few of @gerrylum's videos here and there. Was planning to make my final decision now that I'm able to sit down and relax finally. Looks like the decision was made for me prior to the previously mentioned deadline. Maybe a blessing in disguise to save me from spending more money I don't need to spend.

Well, turns out the sale went better than anticipated and they needed to end it early to avoid stocking issues. Unfortunate for those of you that had/wanted to wait until this afternoon. This is just a guess, but I imagine there will be another sale come Labor Day weekend which is just a couple months away.

Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread either with your answers or your questions. Rivians were a top seller for them which is good news for us in that there will be more of us to contribute to the learning.

Well unfortunately I don't like to do business with companies that operate like that, so not sure I'll be interested in the future, which is sad. I spent the day researching and making sure I would feel comfortable with the install and was excited to try, only to have them decide to change their minds, what a shame.

The issue type did not include anything like this, but I tried submitting as well. Definitely something weird with their website.

Looks like the sale ends at 10am Pacific tomorrow, Monday, July 7th.

And then they apparently ended it early, with no indication. The countdown banner was still on the site, counting down, but I could not get the sale price when I tried to check out. I checked back - countdown was still showing, but after a few minutes the banner no longer showed. What kind of amateurs are running that site? They wasted a bunch of my time, as well as customer good will.
