I used that St. Regis Tesla station twice this weekend (to and from Helena) - it is super convenient... but no trailer spot, and on top of that it's V3 posts that are off-center from the spots. Really not non-Tesla friendly.

Maybe Rivian's station will have a trailer spot at their station.

Oh, and the shakes at the tourist trap/shop/convivence station are not the "best. damn. shakes.", but they aren't terrible either.

Unfortunately, ho-hum for me. Thanks but no thanks, RAN. Will continue to stick to the unbeatable Tesla network only.
Just for kicks, checked a couple of chargers that I might use.
Tesla Boardman OR, $0.45/kWh; RAN The Dalles, OR $0.49
Tesla Lincoln City, OR, $0.54; RAN Aberdeen OR, $0.57
Tesla St. Regis, MT, $0.49; RAN St. Regis, MT..TBD? Not holding my breath

And Tesla charger costs do not include the membership fee for even lower prices.
Still a no-brainer PASS on RAN for me.

But why St Regis, when there is already an under-utilized but very convenient Tesla DCFC station there? Will the Rivian station be cheaper for Rivian drivers? Rivian would do well to place some stations along I-90 further east in eastern Montana, NE Wyoming, and South Dakota which are currently charging “deserts”
Ditto on St. Regis. Perhaps Tesla will address those other charging deserts soon. It fixed one such desert with a hell of a DCFC in Lewiston, ID recently. Opened up that whole area for my R1S. Awesome!!

I just checked the map and don't see one if Salt Lake. Park City, yes. But no Salt Lake.

Aberdeen is not in Oregon (it's in Washington). Maybe you're thinking of Astoria.

Aberdeen, WA. Yes, Thank you!
In the end, it actually may depend on the location; RAN may cost less than Tesla in some places, e.g., Forks, WA and Lincoln City, OR. But for the most part, it looks as if the Tesla network beats RAN even on prices.
And we are talking about Tesla charging costs for Rivians.
Once you compare what Tesla charging prices are for Teslas and what RAN prices are for Rivians, it ain't even close; RAN prices about 30% higher. I will be nice and just say that RAN prices are "much higher" than Tesla.
Another way of looking at it, the Tesla network sells "regular unleaded" electricity; RAN sells "premium" electricity only or else also "regular unleaded" with ~30% markup. No, thanks.

Need better coverage in WY, ND and SD. Also need something close to Glacier NP.

Lots to see and nowhere to charge fast....

Might have a wee bit to do with the state governments not really giving AF about moving those projects along.

Can someone please inform Rivian that Boulder is not in northern CO?
I think it has to do with the zoom effect on the map itself. If you are zoomed out, it tries to spread the icons apart, causing Boulder to shift more north as you pull back. When you zoom in, the pin location becomes much more accurate.

You are absolutely correct - at least the map zooms now. The old one you could barely zoom to a region of the US.

I was actually sarcastically trying to remind them we would love to have a RAN charger in NoCO:brokenhearted:

And NE - but nothing to see and nowhere to charge fast... especially in the west end.

There are still waaaaaay too few fast chargers to accommodate demand so the more the better. It’s a legitimate barrier to entry for many people who believe they can’t reliably road trip with EV’s - whether true or not, the perception is there. Reducing that issue can help Rivian sell vehicles. No other charging experience has been as easy as RAN, and I owned 2 EV’s prior to getting my Rivian in January 2023. It’s SO much more difficult to find open charges now than it was in 2021.

I’m also in Oregon and road tripping kind of sucks due to the lines at fast charges in recent years. I’m sure some people don’t experience lines, but I certainly have in the few times I’ve needed a non-RAN charger, and it sucked.

Tesla coming on board is great, especially with the lower prices, but I’m voting with my wallet and will pay more to not use a Tesla charger whenever I can. Whether anyone agrees with that philosophy is up to them, but I greatly appreciate the opportunity to avoid giving evenpenny to Tesla than I must.

Another perception out there is that it is waaaaay too expensive to road trip in an EV because of the high cost of electricity at fast chargers. It is a very valid argument against EV ownership and adoption, indeed. I myself have delved plenty on here into the comparison of the cost of energy purchased and paid by ICE drivers at the pump (gal. to kWh) with the price of identical amount of energy purchased at DCFs by EV drivers (kWh), and unfortunately ruffled quite a few feathers on here apparently in the process. That said, the much lower energy cost for ICE is not just lower but staggeringly lower.

Yes. More chargers are needed. Many more, and it is getting better in that regard.

Absent my glorious Teslas themselves somehow grabbing the DCFC cable itself and plugging it into the port, I respectfully submit that nothing, nothing out there makes charging an EV easier than Tesla. Tesla wrote the book. RAN may make it just as easy, but RAN is late to the EV party.

Funny, I too vote with my wallet always, more so when it comes to using DCFCs, precisely the very reason why there is no [expletive] [expletive] way in hell I shall ever use anything else other than the glorious, supreme, ultra reliable, ubiquitous, numero-uno-by-far Tesla network. I bought my glorious Teslas for the tech, for what they are. Anything else about Tesla is unadulterated, bona fide chaff. But disregard what I think about Tesla being the absolute best. Instead, just ask Ford, GM, Volvo, BMW, Audi, Honda, and yes, Rivian, etc. why they all adopted Tesla 🤣 🤣 🤣.
