How could Rivian do this to me? (Lost rear drivetrain power)

The disconnect acts as a safety so that if you have an issue it can release to save from potential/further damage. The Gen 1's have been having many erroneous CAN bus errors the past few months bringing up anything from acc unavailable to motor faults. Sadly I fear that this is going to get worse not better given the now lessened support for Gen 1.

Would this be under the Vehicle Dynamics CAN in the CGM?

The BCM LIN diagram is barely clear enough to read, but the full vehicle network architecture diagram is (probably intentionally) terribly blurry. My attempts at ChatGPT cleanup resulted in nil.

Recently I had a similar experience with the rear drive unit on a Gen 2 R1S Dual Perf Max. After reset, it seemed OK at first, then after half mile test as I was decelerating to a stop sign, I felt and heard a bang from the rear with the return of the turtle, so needed to resort to Roadside for tow to service center. Received a new rear drive unit replacement under warranty and it seems to perform better than before-- smoother acceleration from standstill, and quicker up the speed ramp. Methinks something was wrong since delivery, but previous service visits found nothing out of spec. I recommend a service center visit wholeheartedly, despite the differences in generation/model.

I was speaking with my Mobile Rivian tech just this morning. He confirmed the R1 has a 300 Amp dedicated fuse for the winch. I asked if it is fed directly from the DC battery to 12 volts- he indicated yes. I will follow up with him tomorrow to confirm details and location.

I had the same thing happen at 3K miles on our R1S Quad Gen 1. Rear right drive unit disconnect failure. keep it in conserve mode if you can
