Anyone know what, if any, the differences are in Gear Tunnel opening sizes in Gen 1 vs Gen 2.

Looks like volume is slightly different with Gen 2 being a little smaller. Anyone know why?

I ordered a Boxgods gear tunnel slide that is finally approaching delivery but I ordered when I had a Gen 1. I now have a Gen 2 and don’t know if it’ll fit.

I think it is the new Tonneau cover storage space taking up more space.

Rolling up is less space efficient than stacking, but hopefully more reliable.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
+1 on the new V2 tonneau design.

FWIW I did notice the the doors will pop open and not get re-locked, and they have a smoother opening mechanism.

Ah, that makes sense. I wish Rivian would publish the Gen 2 opening size like this

I unfortunately may have a really nice gear tunnel slide for sale.

I don't think so. It can get retrofitted onto a gen1 truck and they aren't touching the sheet metal to do it.

I had a Gen1 Quad T for a loaner and (as expected) I didn't notice any difference in the space inside. Of course I didn't measure. I think it is probably due to the new tonneau as others have said, but that is just a guess. The V2 tonneau is not on all Gen2 models (the early Gen2 models had the "V1.5" tonneau). It is possible they made space for it knowing it was coming.

Let us know what you find out when you go to install the slide. I suspect you won't have any trouble due to Gen1 vs Gen2 changes.

The new tonneau cover doesn’t impact the gear tunnel…I just had a power tonneau installed. For reference, I also have the RMAXX gear tunnel dual slides installed in my 2025 and they were in place when my PTC was installed

You should be fine. None of the slide manufacturers indicate a difference between generations for the slide. They would have by now. I have the Thunderbold slide and kitchen, which I believe was designed for Gen 1, but fits perfectly within Gen 2 as well.

Interesting it's only .3 liters different.
Hard to imagine the would re-tool for that small of a change. Makes me wonder if it's the soft liner materials inside. Hopefully the 4 hard mounting points have not moved between gen-1 and 2. I've been testing my own for almost a year under heavy use . Still debating whether to offer it for sale. Don't know if there would be a market for a slide at an industrial grade level. All machined parts with the tub folded form a single heavy gaude sheet. Would have to be in the $2.8k range to make it worth selling.

I have the new power tonneau cover on my 2024 Gen 1. I have not noticed any difference in space within the gear tunnel

You have the new roll up design with really skinny slats, or the updated stackable design that outwardly looks identical to the original cover. If it is the new roll up design that is really cool. I didn't know that anyone was getting that update, I thought all the Gen 1 people were getting was the slightly improved but still less than 100% reliable stackable design.

Also, based on the specs in the OP's screenshot I wouldn't expect it to be very noticeable. 11.7 vs 11.4 is a pretty negligible difference. It would only be apparent if you had something that was a perfect fit in one and then just barely didn't fit into the other.

Nope, it's available. Big (12-page) thread with people discussing it - and getting it retrofitted - here.
