Comma crashing?

I’ve noticed about once every 200-300 miles, comma silently freezes and crashes. It makes no noise letting me know it’s disengaging, I just notice that I’m suddenly drifting over the line, then it shuts off.

I’m running the latest sunny pilot— this started maybe a month ago when I switched to the staging branch, and has persisted through multiple updates.

Are you using the Comma power? What harness? Fuse tap?

What is the power source? Which harness(es) are you using?

Does it use Cloudflare? There’s a major ongoing outage with Cloudflare impacting many service providers.

Could be a power issue, could need to be reflashed. Have you tried installing the release version of SP? Honestly sounds more like a hardware issue, but we need to hear more about what your exact setup is.

Oh yeah, "silently" suggests that the screen is still on and working? Or is the screen dark and you missed it? Or it's on, not moving, and you didn't notice?

Could be a power issue, could need to be reflashed. Have you tried installing the release version of SP? Honestly sounds more like a hardware issue, but we need to hear more about what your exact setup is.

I’m running power off the ODB2. Everything worked fine on the old Rivian branch of SP, this started after I switched to staging. No longitudinal, just the comma adapter.

Oh yeah, "silently" suggests that the screen is still on and working? Or is the screen dark and you missed it? Or it's on, not moving, and you didn't notice?

by “silently” I mean it makes no noise— the video on the comma freezes, stops showing live video for probably 15-30s, then it goes black, reboots, then I can reactivate comma once it’s back online and it will work properly

Do you have the Comma harness? Did you ever remove the AXM power connection?

First thing I'd try is reflashing the Comma and installing the release version of Sunnypilot (release.sunnypilot.ai). If it still happens, and you still have the AXM power connection, it might be some power fluctuation weirdness. That's the main reason we recommend removing that power connection.

I didn't modify anything when I added the ODB power-- can you link me to anything on how to do that?
