Hi all, I got to a Tesla supercharger today with about 20% battery life. I did pre condition the battery for the 45 min prior, it was only 26 degrees outside. Plugged into charger , saw the speed go up quickly to 200+ kWh , then got a Red flashing / beeping error. Said there was a charging error, said to wait 15 seconds to unplug and try a different charger. I tried a different stall, same thing, tried a third stall, same thing. Got the same error after being plugged in for 20-30 seconds..
my theory is the Tesla charger went too high for the batteries ability to charge that fast. Strange though, why didn’t the vehicle just limit the speed? I’ve literally never pre conditioned before, and the battery was around 70degrees when I first plugged into charger. The screen said it was ready to accept 100kWh, and the Tesla tried to go to 200, so I’m guessing that was the problem? But still, why didn’t the car just slow it down? And considering I pre conditioned for 45 min prior i was even more surprised to get this error. Any help appreciated! I could have gotten stranded if I didn’t have enough to go to a different location.
